Obama says he will bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. What does that mean?

Obama says he will bring Osama Bin Laden to justice. What does that mean to you? Does that mean he knows where he is and will bring him to justice to look like a hero? Some believe he has Muslim extremist contacts. Or is just another statement that politicians make, some with good intentions and some because it is expected? Or do you believe he has a plan? Remember, we don't have to agree but we don't have to attack each other. I no longer respond to attacks.

Personally, I think that Obama is trying in some way to appeal to Iraq withdrawal opponents. To some people, withdrawing from Iraq would be viewed as a failure, so I think he's trying to appease that particular group by promising to do something that the Bush administration hasn't quite managed. Saying that Obama has Muslim extremist contacts is just a low blow against his heritage. In my opinion, it's like someone saying, "Oh, you're Irish. I can't believe you're not drunk yet." It's playing on negative American sentiment towards the Muslim community. Really, if people want to look good, they should be encouraging unity. By attacking "Muslim extremist ties", Obama's opponents could potentially hurt their own image by trying to bring negative attention to the Muslim community.

There is a difference between Muslims and Muslim extremists. That is why we stress that difference. Just like there is a difference between Christians and Christian extremists who blow up abortion clinics. Not all Americans see Muslims as the enemy. Notice I said Muslims not Muslim extremists. Know the difference. I married a Muslim. I am still married to him. I am proud of him, and I love him.

I know the difference between Muslims and Muslim extremists. Many Americans don't. I'm simply stressing that Obama opponents are using a lot of negative feelings towards the general Muslim community to generate doubt for the Obama campaign.

Well with waht has happened to so many people who has been involved with the so called "attacks" believed to be from the moslems, i dont think any one will want to say one muslim is an extremist and one is not! becuase the one you may view as non extrimist simply refuses to say this guys who hide under muslim tutorlage are not muslim- e.g the alqueda, etc. Here in Nigeria where I am located its adifferent case any muslim from the Northern side and who is a northerner by birth and being an illetrate, is classified as pro alqueda and the rest because they refuse to know who and who is fighting and why are they fighting all they hear is "al ham du li lahi" and they see them as brothers and then take side immediately! but this is different with the one from the south, west cause they are more enlightied and they know a bit of whats going on.

Hi Yestheypayme2dothis, What does this mean to me? It's rhetoric, pure and simple. Osama Bin Laden isn't the "enemy", at least not the enemy that he's being painted as. Al Quaeda is a product of the CIA's efforts to dislodge the Russian occupation forces from Afghanistan all those years ago. Just like Saddam Hussein who was Uncle Sam's best friend as long as he was useful, Osama Bin Laden and Al Quaeda are just one more colonial creation that has turned on its master and now bites the hand that once nourished it. So Osama Bin Laden is really just a label, a propaganda tool to rally and unite the rabble. At least, that's my opinion. It's true, too, from what I understand. Surely Obama will have more pressing concerns than to waste American resources hunting down some Saudi whacko hiding with a kidney dialysis machine in a cave somewhere in Pakistan or Afghanistan? But like so much of politics and the machinations of Empire, the symbolism of these things is often more important than the underlying reality.

It is big on Obama's list. I think he believes a lot of people are concerned about it.

That just means he's grasping at straws. He can't say he will fight Islamism because that might offend the Muslims. He's not just worried about getting our votes, he's also trying to get approval from the Middle East. I think he thinks he can "come out as a Muslim" when/if he's president and make peace on Earth. I don't think he has any idea where Osama is and he doesn't have the faintest idea of how he will "bring him to justice". I have to wonder what color he would be for this election if his wife was white. Here's an interesting article I just found. http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5567

That was an excellent article. And yet, his supporters read such things and still feel so secure. The line about him being so concerned with moral issues is a blast. The man thinks it is ok to kill babies who are born alive during abortions. Nobody has addressed that issue...what if his wife was white. That's a good one.

My pleasure, thanks for reading. Daniel Pipes rocks, I love his articles, I like the fact that he always backs what he says with reliable links and sources. Read his article The Enemy Has a Name http://www.danielpipes.org/article/5629

Empty promises, probably. He's saying things that some people want to hear. Of course, there will be some who will believe him, and think of him as a potential hero.

Unlike in the beginning of this primary, he is realizing that he needs to please more than one group.

It's just an empty promise, along with all of his other rhetorical nonsense. He always gives you speeches of promises, plans, and "change". Never have I actually heard him inform us upon how he plans to achieve his many goals. Telling us what we want to hear may work on the lower-class and more ignorant people, but I know crap when I see it.

Let them attack it just shows their ignorance. If we bring Osama to justice it mean Osama is innocent until proven guilty. It almost sounds like Obama is tring to say that Osama is innocent, or atlest has the right to defend his actions. This has gone way to far, can we bring logic back to America. Osama does not deserve anything except a bullet in the head.

It means he's gonna try to develop a working plan to track him down so that he can face his crimes. I imagine the whole world will want a piece of him, so this will probably be more complicated than finding him -- Imagine that! Whether he can do it, I have no idea. I wouldn't dislike Obama even if he was a muslim (which he isn't), I know a muslim family and they're awesome people -- not all people of the same faith are the same. Many muslims that I know denounce terrorists and what they believe in.

UM? WOW !! Does he like, know him personally or something? I am sorry but you are right unless there is some type of connection, if nobody has caught him yet after all these years what makes him think he can? I am not sure what or who to believe anymore so I am just going to stick to the one thing that I know can always rely on .......... GOD!!

I saw a black man at my neighbors house today. he must be Muslim because he is black. He to must know where Osama is. I think he should bring him to justice because it would be the right thing to do and not only that I would be a hero in my little town.

I never said he must be Muslim because he is black. Muslims are all colors of the rainbow.
