How many of you have travelled to Mumbai (or Bombay as it was formally called)?? What is your opinion of this city? I have been born here and cannot think of settling anywhere else. But I know many hate this place because of the pollution and crowds here. Have you seen Mumbai or planning to come here soon?

I haven't really visited Mumbai. But I have been there on transit many times. But I've never had a chance to visit the place. I would have if I was travelling....but travelling with kids and no other adults, it is difficult to manage a sight seeing trip with them tagging along.

If you visit Mumbai with the kids and want to go sight seeing the best option would be either to go on a tour bus or book a private vehicle for the day and go sightseeing. With a private vehicle you could stop for longer periods where you like to and even have meals in places of your choice.

It won't be easy when I am alone with a toddler (20 months) and an 8 year old. I will stopping in transit in Mumbai next year....in april or May. If my husband decides to join us, then we will surely plan a sightseeing trip....but if I am alone with the kids, I'd prefer to stay at the airport and wait for my flight.

Hi, I visited Mumbai twice last Summer as my husband was working there for two months on a banking project. We stayed in Bandra but did lots of sightseeing, travelling around in rickshaws and then cool cabs if we had to travel more into the centre of Mumbai. We fell in love with Mumbai; the contrast between absolute poverty and overwhelming wealth really shocked us but we would love to return. It may be a chaotic city but we felt very at home there, being Londoners (UK)!! The monsoons were an incredible experience for us, we were completely in awe of them (although I appreciate living in them is more difficult!).

Bandra is a very nice place. Being the heart of the city it is a very conveinient location for travelling to any part of Mumbai. Bandra is in between my Home and my Office. It is monsoons now here but the climate is very hot. Hope you come to Mumbai again soon.

I agree that Mumbai is crowded and slummy. But then it depends on which part of Mumbai you are planning to visit. You do not get to see the slums everywhere. And there are a lot of places to shop and eat. When are you coming to MUmbai?
