How many of you mylotters are from India. And out of that from Mumbai. I have been born in Mumbai and cannot think of living in any other place. This is in spite of the crowds and pollution here. There are many who hate the crowds here but I am so used to having people constantly around that I find it difficult to stay anywhere else. What is your opinion of Mumbai? And how is the place you stay?

Natively, I belong to U.P. but i did my graduation from Noida.But now i work in Hyderabad (A.P) and i tell you i can figure out a lot of difference between the cultures followed over here and in North India.Language is the first and foremost difference. And then fooding. And festivals. The only thing you should consider before comign here to the south is about ur food and be prepared to hear the people talking in Telugu all the day.. So that next day even Himesh's ongs would be a melody to ur ears. About Mumbai, I have been there a lot of times and infact i was there recently in the first week of June. My grandparents stay over there in Mumbai. But my complete trip was spoilt by rains. Mumbai is a nice place. Crowd..its not a problem for me because i am quite used to it.

Ya, I find it difficult to adjust with the people around me talking in Telugu and i have to interrup in btw them and ask them to talk in English. It was even worse in Bangalore. Oh my grandparents live at Khar Road, the next station to Bandra.. Where do you live?

Well i believe in Bangalore you can manage with Hindi also but the south indian shop keepers are not too good at hindi. I work in Dadar which is just one station away from bandra by fast train.

As far as the language in UP and Hyderabad there is a very vast difference. The south indian langauages are not easy for everyone to learn and that is why we have problems when we travel there. Whereabout in Mumbai do your grandparents stay?

I was born and brought up in Delhi. It is my own perception that I like Delhi than Mumbai (everyone will have his/her opinion about liking/disliking a city). As far as safety is concerned, every city in India is unsafe.

Yes every city is unsafe now. Before villages were safer places but now even from there you hear a lot of stories in the media. And yes everyone likes their own cities.

Hey mayka, Iam from Mumbai too. I love this city more than anywhere else. I know lately we have faced a lot of political turmoil but our unity cant be broken. Well to talk abt trafiic u go to any part of India u will crowded cities, filthy roads and poverty. So its wrong to say that mumbai is the only one. I have been to Delhi, Calcutta, M.P, U.P and a lot of other places but then its not any better than us. As a matter of fact MUmbai is the mosy systematic place i have ever seen. Well i belong to Calcutta but iam a Mumbaikar now and most importantly iam an Indian first. So lets keep our country, our city and our home clean and healthy. Cheers, Tutul

yh thats true...actually our city is alive due to its public transport and the percentage of population using the same.... while in other cities the public transport even if improved the number of ppl using it is very low... here one would find a lot of migrants from various cities coming here for work,studies , and fulfilling their dreams... its a city of dreams.... love the place love the city...

I lived in Mumbai for a year and worked from Nariman Point..... Does this count?? I had a rooftop apartment in Marine Lines that had a distant water view and I could also see a sports stadium where they held some amazing weddings! For a month or so prior to me moving to India I lived in an apartment in Metro as well. It was a hectic year and I do have some fond memories of Mumbai that will always stay with me.

I think the scenery from the rooftop in Marine Lines would have been just fantastic. I just love going to the Marine Drive and sitting and watching the waves there. You may have been somewhere near the Wankhede Stadium. In comparison I think Metro was a bit congested. Can you share some of your memories of Mumbai?

Hi amirev, Looks like you are not too fond of mumbai. And anyway someone staying in a calm, peaceful and beautiful place like Goa cannot like the crowded Mumbai so much. I have been to Goa for holidays a couple of times and liked the place a lot. Anyway hope you have a pleasant stay during your next visit to Mumbai.

All Indians who want to become a film star and want to make it big in Bollywood come to Mumbai. We have all the top film stars of bollywood living here. And I think you should come atleast once and visit this place.

Hi, I live in New Delhi . I believe each of our Big cities have Plus as well as Minus in living . Plus being : Better amenities , better Job Opportunities , more money , more glamour - fashion industry in Delhi and Bollywood in Mumbai. Mumbai is the financial capital of India whereas Delhi is the Political capital . Yet;we also have many problems : = Infrastructure problems : Bad Road conditions , Traffic Bottlenecks , Public Transport problems =Crowded Buses , Trains , Inadequate water supply , Electricity Problems , Terror Threat ( More to Mumbai than Delhi ) ,Crime etc . So it is all a mixed baggage .
@mayka123 (16604)

And inspite of these problems we in Mumbai think we are much safer here than in Delhi. From the stories that we hear on the news channels I would be quite scared of living in Delhi.

Even though i'm not from Mumbai,i like mumbai because of its skyscrapers which we dont have in chennai and i think that it is the most costliest city in India more than Delhi and thats why its known as the Industrial Capital of India..Mumbai has the most number of celebrities any place could have you could find the best cricketet,best actor,director,and the best buissnessmen..it really is a heaven in mumbai..happy that a mylotter has started a discussion about mumbai... Happy Mylotting

There are very few movies that are shot in Mumbai for the simple reason that the roads are so crowded that the film producers have the extra tension of security for the film stars, And we have a mixed culture here where you find people for all over India who have settled here for generations and adapted the the culture of mumbai. And since I was born here and lived here all my life I do have a lot of good memories.
