mother board for my compaq

hi,
I've a very old laptop a COMPAQ ARMADA 99-2000 model.recently its mother board got defunked and I am facing a lot of difficulty in replacing it as the model has become obselete and none of the dealers(even authorised)don't have its spare parts.Do any of u guys know where I can get the motherboard for that model are there any websites which deal in spare parts of old laptops?

I wish you luck in your search but it is true that parts for older laptops are very hard to obtain and usually not worth the cost. If you haven't already checked Ebay that is one good source but look for the laptop as well as the motherboard. Also try www.laptopbits.co.uk. You may well find it is cheaper to get a 2nd hand laptop complete rather than a replacement motherboard. There is also the potential problem of another component failing when you are fitting the new motherboard.

hi,
thnx for the help actually i came to know that a new motherboard for my laptop(if I find it by chance) would cost me more than a second hand laptop so I am thinking of dropping the idea to find a new mother board.Anyways the link which u have mentioned in ur response was quite helpful.Bye take care.
