I was always told by my family that credit cards are bad and never get one and never, ever, EVER use them. But, as it turns out, since I never had any credit, my credit was never good. All credit card companies want to see is you making payment. So, I think one small credit card, used with modesty can actually be helpful.

Credit cards are best if you have them and use them sparingly.Because it can easily lead you to excessive spending if you are not careful. And also if you do use it then it is important to repay it on time.So make sure that if you are going to go for a credit card then you ensure that funds are available for repaying the card bill.Though most credit cards do have credit free periods for repayment it helps to be timely with your payments.

I wouldn't get more than one. Also, try to do yourself a favor and pay it off every month. If you can't, at least pay more than the minimum payment. Try NEVER to go over your credit limit. The credit card company will raise your interest rate, charge you extra fees and turn in a black mark on your credit report. If you're trying to build up your credit, that's the last thing you need. Use the card only in moderation, if you can't do that - cut the thing up and call the credit card company requesting your account be CLOSED.
