What Qualifies Someone As "No Longer A Newbie"?

United States
June 21, 2008 2:58pm CST
So when are you officially a myLot vet? Do you judge by how many discussions someone has started? Responses they have made? Or if they have a "star" or not? Maybe you look at their profile and decide by how long they have been a member. Three months? Three years? Maybe by how many friends they have or if they are a friend of yours? How do you decide...

I think that answer is when you feel comfortable with the site. I have known people come straight on here and settle into their stride. Personally it happened when I decided that I had a few friends that always responded to my discussions and that I could usually post a discussion without worrying whether anyone responded to it. Just enjoy yourself here and suddenly you will feel part of the furniture. That's assuming that you don't feel that way already.

Trans, why could you feel like a newbie. I am here for only one and half month and I feel like a veteran like Mooch. You see one just has to be comfortable in here and then all the trimmings will come along. p1kef1sh answer is good. What one has to do is be honest with yourself and don't put on any airs while entering MYLOT. I love being in here. Just be yourself.

That is a great response! Good way to look at it! I had a few posts they had 0 responses my first week and I did take it kind of personal. Now when I look at "discussions I've started" and see those posts there, still with 0 responses, it doesn't bother me as much. Thanks! :)

For me someone maybe called as no longer a newbie when she/he received his/her first payment because that would be the point wherein you prove to yourself that the site is really a genuine where that point of time also she/he can genuinely at ease give advices for those who would like to join and for those who just become a member. He/she can be able now to answer the questions of those newbies.

I think once you hit 500 points next to your name and can make use of the copy and paste you can stop feeling like a newbie. At least that's what made me feel like I wans't such a newbie anymore!

I think after 2-3 weeks when they know the rules well and have participated in more than 15-20 discussions or so, and maybe created a few of their own, they are no longer a newbie. This question can be answered very differently by everyone, but the answer I gave above is just my own opinion.

Thank you for your response and your opinion! I have seen a very large range of opinions on this topic. That is why we are all here though, to be able to express our opinions:)

I would say maybe when you already know all the guidelines and properly applied it in each of your post. I've been here for quite sometime now, replied and post number of discussions, but I still consider myself a newbie. Maybe when I reached my 1000th posts I would start to feel like I'm not longer a newbie. That's just my self-made qualification though. :)

Oct: The number of posts beside your name doesn't guarantee that you are here for along time. It is how active you are here in MYLOT. So don't have the impression that because I have over 900 beside my name I am here long. No I am just active.

That's a good one! I have seen a few that I am assuming have been her for quite some time, due to the number of their posts, and they do not always follow the guidelines/rules. I wonder if they still feel like a newbie??

Great point kerriannc! For a months time, having over 900 posts is fantastic! I guess I didn't think of it that way. Thanks for pointing that out! :)

Well I don't think the star makes you a vet because you can get that at 100 posts. I don't know I would think maybe around 1000. I am coming up on 200 and I know that there is still alot for me to learn.

Don't bother with the 'newbie' tag. Once you become a seasoned player here, you will eventually graduate and bestowed with the various classes of stars. So keep on posting and responding. The star is not too far away, it is now within your reach.

I think someone can be considered a newbie anymore if he responds to discussions in a mature, responsible and sensical way and is already used to myLot rules, guidelines and just how things go around here without questioning others how to reach $10 in a month or how to get referrals or if this site really pays or starting discussions like which is better coke or pepsi. I noticed those kind of questions come from the new users. I don't mean to offend anyone but it's true and I think we all went through that stage once or twice so if you're already past that stage and sees mylot as fun and enjoyable then maybe you won't be considered a newbie anymore.

Thanks for your response! I know what you are referring to. I recently saw a discussion that headlined..."I like..." and then just had one word (which I believe it was a snack food) as their topic. Good point! :)

I think if they earn more than what they have expected, then they'll no longer a newbie. I still consider myself as a newbie, just because I haven't receive any

Do you mean a days earning or reaching a payout? I have quite a ways to go for my 1st payout, but I was really surprised to see my last daily earning. It was more that I was expecting. That was a really good feeling for me, but I still feel like a newbie :) Thanks for your response!

Some people say a certain number of posts. Some people may say number of weeks or months here. I think it depends on the individual. When you don't feel new or awkward you have left newbie status.

A unique discussion indeed! Well,it all depends how fast you learn how mylot works and how fast you learn to navigate in mylot quite easily with out any problems or confusions and when you know what things are where. Also,to become an expert of mylot, you must know all about the guidelines of mylot and what things are against mylot guidelines, like referral links etc. So,it all depends how fast one learns. One can become an expert in 2 -3 days, while for some it takes months. When you are confident enough to know all about mylot, you can consider yourself as an expert. Cheers! Have a cool day Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

You know when I 1st logged into myLot, everything looked greek to me. After a few days I became more comfortable navigating through my stay. Then I realized I need a game plan from the time I log on to the time I sign off. Now I don't always stick to it (LOL) I may add. Thanks for your response! :)

I think that's for you to decide! You know the guidelines and can apply them and not break the rules without looking them up. You feel comfortable responding to people's discussions, you have friends you enjoy discussing things with. . .you're home. Then you're a vet. Stars and numbers are just statistics.

Thanks for your response! Some of the comments I have received thus far from some of the people here at myLot have made me feel like a star without a star! Have a great day! :)

I think you're no longer a newbie once you've reached your hundredth post. But this doesn't mean you're a vet either. There are myLotters who have made over 20,000 posts so I guess those are the real experts. Those of us stuck in between are probably just the regular members I suppose.

I just judge someone by the mount of discussion he started and responses he have made.I think a lot of members have this opinoin.you can derive the result from the response someone get when he starts a disscussion. As a niwbie, perhaps others don't like to respose to it.Now I am still a newbie from my standpiont.Anf I 'll tre my best to get out of it as soon as possible.

Thank you for you response. I anticipated when I started this discussion that this would be the response that would be the most seen. Surprisingly enough, it is not. I am taking on a new view of myLot. Have a great day! :)

After about a few months of posting and about two or three payouts then I would say that I am no longer a newbie. I don't know how to post each month in order to make payout and sometimes I can't think of a new discussion to start. Because of this and more is why I consider myself a newbie. I see people who have started over 500 discussions and I'm not sure as of how they came up with all the different topics. Though I have been on here for only a week, I have tons of friends already. The more I think of it, I probably won't be a vet until years down the line. I hope I don't get bored with it too soon.

Well, I don't know how you could get bored with it, especially with all of the friends that you said you had made :) Maybe stick to the one interest that interests you the most. Starting discussions in a topic that is passionate for you should make it a little easier. Thanks for your response! :)
