Have you ever been late for work, because your watch was slow?

This has never happened to me. But I was wondering if perhaps it has happened to someone else. Maybe you forgot to set your alarm clock and ended up late for work. Or, you thought that you were not going to be late and then turns out that your watch was fifteen minutes behind? Or, maybe you forgot to set your clock forward when they "spring forward". Has that ever happened to you?

It takes so much time to get anywhere in Port of Spain, Trinidad, because of the traffic, that you need to start way ahead just to make sure you're timely. Traffic here can build up in minutes or you can turn the corner and find a horror of a traffic jam. I just try to be early. If I'm late everybody will understand. I check the clocks I use all the time since everybody else's seems to have slightly different times. Basically, if you're early all the time its hard to be late. Although you can wake up late. Well, you can't have everything.

Living in the big citys in the US, is the same way. Driving through New York City, LA or Atlanta is just horrible during rush hour morning or evening!

I had a co-worker that was late to work every day because he wouldn't correct the clock in his car.....I don't know how he still has a job.

Yeah a few times. One time because my car broke down on the way to work. So that wasn't may fault. I had to get someone to pick me up to take me to work.

I agree they sound like a bunch of crooks.

That's more than understandable. That kind of thing happens all the time. Once my spouse's car broke down on the way to work and he totally got fired, even though he called and told them what happened and was about an hour late! I think they were looking to get rid of him anyway so they didn't have to pay him medical benefits. Bummer! What a bunch of crooks! Glad to be rid of them.

Oh ya, It ever happened to me when I forgot to set my clock forward when they "spring forward". It was so embarrassed. I was late one hour. At that time, there was an important meeting. Geezz... why do we have to set our clock forward and backward?

I thought that I was not the only one that this had happened to! Once when I was a little kid, we forgot to set our clock forward an hour (for spring forward) on Sunday and were one hour late for church, after driving almost two hundred miles! They were just wrapping up, when we arrived. Anyway, we didn't even go into the service, but attended the evening service later on. I can still remember that!

Yea sure. I have a weekly meeting and late comers will be fined $5. I am usually in the rush every morning. Once, I thought I was on time and when I reached the office, my colleagues have started the meeting and I am ten minutes late.

I don't even like to lose five dollars! That would motivate me to be on time. But I am sure that circumstances would cause me to be late once or twice. Traffic and such. You know how that goes.

I used my cellphone time as my office clock. Looking at my cellphone, I was confident doing my morning rituals. When I went to our dining room, I was kinda shock to find out that there is no difference between the clocks time and my phones. Luckily I was not late, I was just almost late... Actually, I am a punctual person.

Any time I'm late for work it's usually because I forget to switch on my alarm clock or because I sleep right through it when it is going off. I tend to be a very heavy sleeper, when I can actually fall asleep.

I know what you mean. I rarely fall asleep but when I do, it takes an act of Congress to make me wake up.

I have been late getting up many times because my alarm is on my phone and it just haven't gone off. It isn't too bad if I don't get up on time. I stay at home with my girls so it isn't too bad if I don't get up on time because one of them will wake me up.

No I haven't been late to work before. Since we don't have the summer and winter time difference here, I don't have any excuse. Besides, I have a couple clocks at home and I would make sure they are both right.

I have been late for work before but I guess you could say it was my own fault for shutting off the alarm and thinking oh I got a couple minutes and then that couple minutes turn into 20 minutes.I havent forgot to set the clock up or back as of yet but you never knowyou have a great night.

I have never been late for work because of my clock. I have only been late for work, in the past, because of staying up too late the night before, and sleeping in. I don't set an alarm clock so it's when ever I wake up I get ready for work and go. I am usually awake by 7am and since I work for myself I don't have a clock to follow. I usually start work around 9am so that gives me a lot of time to get ready most mornings.

Hi Beauty queen, Back when I was in High School my father used to set this one clock 15 mins a head of time and most times I would always end up being early. There were a few times wheh I used to be in jr High School that my watch would stop , or be slow and I would end up being late or just missing the bell .All the time I didn't know and I was walking slow or chatting with some friends near the school yard.It has not happend since I have been an adult. However, My fiance a few times a year will sleep through his alarm for work , or turn it off thinking he will get up in a few mins. Then, he will get woken up by his work calling non stop a couple of hours later . Oh , and my gram used to forget to turn her clocks back and forth and she would live that way for a few days until she caught on .

Well, back before my husband ended up taking me to the Bus Transfer spot to catch the Bus every morning to work, I ended up missing the Bus to work one morning due to the Clock in the kitchen being 3 minutes slow, and had to call a Taxi to take me to work which ended up being over $20. Since then, I have been late a couple of times due to oversleeping, or the occassional late bus, etc. but I try not to make too much of a habit. Hopefully, it will still be the same when we move.

what really sucks is when you wake up 1 minute before your shift and you know you're in trouble. i usually set mine ahead,so even if i'm late,i'm not as late as i would have been..that being said..i've been late a couple of times for being so tired i slept right through the alarm.the watch was innocent

I was never late for work because my watch was slow. But I returned back to work after lunch a little late because it was running slow. I left that day with a group at a time when we usually leave, but I ran an errand by myself and was late getting back. Wasn't a big deal though.

Hello beautyqueen26, It happened to me just recently. I woke up at night when my son cried in his sleep. I looked at the clock and it showed it was 4 a.m. So, I went back to sleep afterward as I always wake up at 6.30 daily. When I woke up again, it was almost 7.30 and pretty amazing that my another alarm (my handphone) was not functioning as usual. Maybe I didn't hear it (?) I was rushing to get ready and unfortunately, due to heavy traffic, I was 30 minutes late! I hate it when my punch card turned red. When I reached home that evening, my husband asked me where did I put the batteries as the wall clock was not working. I looked at the clock and it still showed the same time - 4 o'clock!

Yes, once upon a time, I went to office late because of broken watch. After that time, I change a new one. And I have a good habit of getting up earlier in the morning. So, it is hard for me to be late.
