Do You Lose Control in a 1-Dollar Shop?

We have some 1 Dollar Shop around here and some of them are quite nice because they are from the Japanese. I went to one of them last night and completely lost control of myself. I guess I was thinking that it was only 1 dollar each, but at the end, I ended up with 15 items of 1 dollar stuff *laughs*. Do you sometimes do that too?

My father once said to me, "Those dollar stores would go out of business if it wasn't for your mother." Heh...the apple doesn't fall far from the tree. I too LOVE LOVE LOVE those stores. There's almost everything there that I need for only dollar. Now, there are somethings that aren't as good of a deal, but you just need to know how to bargin shop. But, one thing I will not buy there again are diaper wipes! Eeewww...the ones I bought had holes in them and seeped through to my hands.

Yeah, you have to be careful what you buy in those dollar shops, some things are actually pretty good, and some things are cheaply made. But you get what you pay for, thats what my husbands always telling me...lol.

Every now and then, I go in a dollar store to look around. I usually end up getting 3 or 4 items, but no more than that. I just don't tend to find that many things I want/need in there. Maybe I need to try a different dollar store. There are several in the town where I live.

I love the dollar stores but I know what you mean, it does add up really fast! I mean, I will even think that, hey it's only one dollar but by the time I get up to the register, my total is like yours maybe 15 or 20 dollars! I do like that you can get that many things though cuz its seems so much better than going to a different store and getting just one thing for the same amount!!

Absolutely. That is my favorite place to lose control in. But usually the stuff I overbuy comes in handy. Often I go back and get some more if it is neat stuff as sometimes it will not be available at that price again soon.

I did when they first came out. My daughter used to love it because she could get some cool stuff on our budget. I liked it for cleaning supplies, candles and other household items. Sometimes I did overdo it and actually spend more than i'd planned. Now I only go in there for something i actually need and try not to browse because money is so tight and it is so easy to spend.

We have a couple dollar stores around where me and my fiance live, and we go to them from time to time, but to answer your question no I do not lose control when we go in one, because I have never been one for shopping, and I have learned how to control myself, that and I know me and fiance have more important things that we need to save our money towards.

hi wonderice! i tend to lose control too when i'm in such a thrift store or when i'm just in a sale. there are shops which sells clothes for three pieces for a hundred pesos (three pieces for at least two dollars) and i would lose control there thinking that the clothes are real cheap. but in the end, i would spend a lot because i had bought too much. ^__^;; but its really cheap and i take advantage of it usually when Christmas is coming. its a good place to buy gifts for a lot of people.

Yes, I'm guilty of that too. I keep our local one dollar shop in business! I love the one dollar items at Christmas time, cause I can put a bunch of one dollar bath and body items into a basket and make something really nice to give away! So much fun! I love shopping! One dollar stores make everything so very affordable. Sometimes you find the same stuff at Walmart or local grocery store for at least a dollar more. So, dollar stores are a big money savings!

Hello wondericequeen, I always think like that. Well, it is just $1, not that much and end up paying more than I am supposed to pay. The last time I went to the same shop, I had my hands fulled of the $1 stuff and told my sister that those stuff were worth to buy -$1 each ONLY!

Yeah, it's amazing, I can spend $50 to $100 in a dollar shop. We have ones with stuff from around the world. But the one that closed where almost everything was from India was the one I loved the best. I bought tons of stuff for X-mas there. They had 5 pounds of rye flour for a dollar and everywhere else it was way more than that.

I went to the dollar store the other day. I have just moved into a new house so we were looking for a few things. We bought a broom, a bucket, some tupper ware, sponges, carpet stuff, a few picture frames, some candy and some freezes. When I go there I never go in the store with more then 20 dollars. If I do I end up buying little things for scrap booking, gift baskets, cars, work/ computer room supplies. I can spend a few bucks in there not even knowing.

Dollar Stores and I are best friends, I will walk in and only want to get a couple of things, and end up coming out with 40 or 50 dollars more than I wanted to start with. I love that store, I can find things to use, find things for others, find things just to find things, Best thing that ever happened is the dollar store.

This kind of shop is more common and you can find it anywhere, the reason it could grow up so quickly is simple and low price for someone to purchase. I think someone to pick up the good with one dollar is a easy way for shopping, don't mind the price if it's too much to pay ,so each thing would properly be in your shopping bag, that's it. Similarly I like shopping there, but my money is also out of control,so the easy way for me is not going there too much often.

I love the dollar store! I will usually only buy a few things, but it is easy to get out of control there, too. I have been known to spend $15 at the dollar store! I have found it is a great place to buy certain things that are usually overpriced, like gift wrap, especially bags and tissue paper. I am willing to try most items from the dollar store at least once. The only things I would not buy there are food, (other than drinks) or baby items.

Hi,yes I go in there wanting to buy a few cleaning products and end up putting in many beauty products and candles .At the end my bill will usually be double of what i wanted to pay .I think it happens to mostly everyone from time to time.

I really enjoy dollar stores, but it's definitely easy to get carried away. I try to only get one or two things that I don't need. You can usually find a couple things that you were meaning to buy at another store and save a lot of money. Recently they had some parts for computers and I got a nice USB extension cord for a dollar that I'm sure would be worth a lot more in a normal store probably at least 5 dollars.
