How Many Days In Summer?

If the 21st June is mid summers day in the northern hemisphere and the first day of summer was 20th June, doesn't that mean that summer is only three days long? This seems to me to be quite strange, not that we are getting much summer weather here in UK. Are you getting summer where you live?
