"SYDNEY (AFP) - A middle-aged man who is auctioning his life over the Internet was Sunday celebrating as bidders fought over who would take his job, home and friends, as he seeks to start over again. The British immigrant to Australia, who said the trigger for his bold offer was the break-up with his wife, had hoped he would attract a bid of 500,000 dollars (477,000 US). Shortly after the seven-day auction began Sunday, a bid of 300,100 dollars for 44-year-old Ian Usher's Perth-based lifestyle was listed on the Internet auction site eBay." http://uk.news.yahoo.com/afp/20080622/tts-lifestyle-australia-britain-auction-bd2cd9d.html This is unbelievable!

Would I bid for this ? Probably not, it is not realistic too bid for someone else's lifestyle. I am too worried about my finances to even think about bidding for something so unrealistic. This is a really amazing story, I don't know if it is going to be for real or not. but I hope it is not a scam.

If that includes his 420,000-dollar house I can believe that there are some serious bids. I don't see how the buyer can purchase his friends though. He must have his friends' agreement to accept the buyer into their circle, but that will not make them like the person, or they may not enjoy this man's hobbies. The winner will also have his job as a rug store assistant, for two weeks initially, but this could be extended. Why would anyone want to pay for this job. If you have half a million dollars to spend would you want to spend it on getting this type of job? I think this man just needs a change and a new start in life following his divorce. I made my own changes and started a new life, without auctioning my life. No-one would have offered anything for my old life anyway.

I agree. He can't make his friends like the person. No, if I had that kind of money, I would NOT want to work in a rug store. I think he should just start over too, without asking someone to buy his life. He could sell the house, and move somewhere else. I mean, he'll have to anyway. right? Like you, no one would want to buy my life either.
