Hi mylotters I just answered one discussion that had only four' words in it. Do you feel like I do that we should at least try to make discussions that mean something, and give the responder something to think about and chew on a bit? Doesnt mylot want us to put a tad more effort into a discussion than three or four words that usually only need a one word answer?Asking me 'if I would pick up ten dollars if I found it on the sidewalk 'doesnt take very many braincells?

I think a lot of people just want to post as many discussions as possible, so they will go and start 20 discussions on topics like this. From what I understand, this is not the type of discussion MyLot encourages, and these people will find they are not going to make more money by posting hundreds of little discussions like this.

fluffysue you are so right and I wish people would read the rules and save themselves much pain by making fewer discussions and making them count.

moonlitmagikchild I love your user name by the way. I have seen some that I really did not know what they were talking about either, and one of them I as much as told 'them if they wanted a response they should make the discussion' more clear.

It's really hard to create a discussion. Most of the "discussions" here are just questions asking our opinion on something. It's what I mostly do. I simply don't have the brain power to start a discussion that's going to have a myriad of responses and comments discussing the topic back and forth. Most of the actual discussions are usually on controversial subjects where many will comment to a response. It's just a shame that these discussions get rather heated with some people ganging up on and putting down someone for their beliefs. Oh well, we do our best I suppose...

yep mstickle the controversial subjects would be fun if people did not start to beat up on someone, that really spoils the whole thing.

There has been a few discussions I think I may have commented too that were short but it didn't bother me much. Then there are others that are long and in depth in what they have to say is good. To me whether short or long as long and I can comment I'm fine. But i do see what your talking about though. Have a good one.

Yes, I believe that myLot expects us to put a little more effort into our discussions - they actually address that topic in their guidelines. If a discussion is that trivial, I often pass it over for something a little more thought-provoking.

As I understand it, discussions like that are against the guidelines. You are correct myLot wants us to write discussions with more substance. For your example, maybe they say something like "Would you pick up ten dollars if you found it on the side walk? Why or why not? What is the largest denomination of money you have ever found? I found $20 in a Wal-Mart parking lot the other day and almost picked it up. Then I thought of the poor guy who lost it and decided to leave it there." Something like that with more substance would encourage responders to give a little more detail. If you see such discussions, You should report them for violating the guidelines. That's what I did when I was on here ages ago with over 1500 posts.

hi zhuuraan it always pays to read the darned rules. your example is right on,by just adding a few sentences you have made a more thought provoking discussion out of it. thanks.

for me we should try to be creative and constructive as mylotters... not because of the earnings that we'll get, but because it is that others would appreciate us and gain new ideas from us... share your thoughts... that the essence...

knight hi yes if we are creative and constructive we will just naturally expand our sentences so we are understood and then we can all enjoy the interplay of ideas.

I have not come across the discussion you're talking about, but I know what you mean. I finally deleted a couple people from my friend list because of it. They never answered my discussions, which was fine because I had theirs to answer. Only I couldn't think of much to say because they were so very brief. In the end I deleted them because of it. I still have some people on my list who post brief discussions, but I'm trying my best to answer theirs. I hate to delete people.

I completely agree with you, all of us has to specify more details to start discussion only then others can understand and respond may be few of them dont know about this due to which they just leave 3 or 4 words, thank you for letting us know about this.

I'm not sure why people post those types of discussions. They either won't get many responses or the responses make about as much sense as the discussion. I for one don't even bother going to those discussions, I would rather respond to more interesting discussions, and I'm sure I'm not the only one that feels this way. They aren't going to make any money to speak of with those types of discussions, the only thing I can figure is, it doesn't take much time or effort to post a 4 word discussion and you can post a lot of them, but that still doesn't do much for your earnings.

palonghorn its sad that they do not realize they will make more money doing fewer discussions and elaborating on those discussions to make them quality discussions that users can 'respond to.

Haha.. i don't respond to discussions that look like tags. If at all the author of the topic, want us to discuss something thy must give more insight on the subject.. which they would want to discuss.. Also i have a fear that simple one liners are not allowed in here in mylot as it is against mylot rules. So i prefer to stay away from those kind of discussions. Take care friend.

Sometimes the title is longer than the discussion! I guess the person figures that the title has said it all and there is no need to repeat! I say, Repeat! Repeat! For my sake, repeat at least one time. That way I will know what is being said. It's hard to type when one is tired. Maybe that is the issue.

Basically, discussions are done so that we can have an exchange of ideas and learn from them if need be. Unfortunately, I have seen a four line disucussion, "Which soap do you use " being given the designation of todays top discussions by mylot. Sometimes I read such beautiful discussions which by right should be on the top discussions of the day, but I have still to understand how mylot admin works. You are absolutely right.

Just a few words seems to be uninterested in the topic ,and then I wonder why he started such an discussion ,just for money?and I even wonder can he earn money from it?I think here is a place to give out our opinoin,as well as earn some extra money,All we need to do is think about a topic for a while, and express all the opinoin.the person with just several words in his discussion or response is disgusting ,I think.

masterdw you are right this is the place to discuss things 'so we need to be clear on what it is we want to discuss and use enough sentences to make it clear.

Hi Hatley, Yes mylot wants discussions, not sentences. lol The best effort is if they have 5 or more sentences that is a discussion in the process, 1 line sentences is actually a risk of being deleted from mylot. It is in the terms that they do not want that. I try to tell newbies who ask how to go about making discussions to use the 5 sentences or more rule in their discussions and replies. Sometimes it is hard to do with replies, but if you think on it a bit, you can do it. ~Icy~

Hatley I agree with you. I tend to stay away from those myself. My discussions are not always, deep thoughtful ones, but I do try for the most part. I have to be inspired by something to give it a write up. However I have found that if you are asking folks in mylot to think to much they will skip over you. Which is okay really because when I do write out one that requires thinking I am looking for intelligent responses.

yes it is really hard to answer discussion with so brief explanation. there are also long discussions that are answerable by yes or no and that is also not that easy to respond to. sometimes specially when those members are new i explain to them that they need to have wore words included with every post and i also respond the discussion.

roniroxas yes we need to have some explanations for us to answer correctly, and I have also seen long discussions that I am hard put to do more than give a yes or no. I also have tried to help newbies by explaining the rules.
