Do you think it is wrong to sit your children in front of the tv?

I do not sit my son in front of the tv all day. He does watch a few hours a day but thats only when I am working (I work at home) I do not like for him to stay too long so those hours he watches are NOT in a row. He watches a little bit (mostly PBS) here and there. I try to get him outside and also reading and being creative as much as I can. I don't think a little bit of TV will make a child stupid.

It's OK sometimes. (Good babysitter once in a while to keep them busy while you have to take a quick shower, etc.. Mostly, I think kids should be out playing in the fresh air, though.

I think it is alright to let them watch educational shows that help them learn and want them to interreact with the show so that they learn and not just see the television as a free babysitters and watching mindless cartoons. I swear as the year progresses on the cartoons seem to get dumber and dumber which I feel will make our chilren that way also if they sit there watching hour after hour. I think kids need to be outside for awhile to play and maybe other learning things like crafts and drawing..something that will stimulate their minds..not deaden it..what happened to all the fun good cartoons yeah they are a few that are good but out of all the ones that are made it is a petty amount.

No i dont thik its ok to sit kids infront of the tv allday but i dont see any harm with children watching a few hours a day as long as they are suitable programes when my children watch tv i always make sure they have the pre school programes on and i have watched them all and no there is nothing that is misleading or unencouraging on there.

Which cartoons in particular don't you like ?. I think alot of programmes that they show are utter garbage, but there is a small amount of good tv, and it can also be educational.

I agree with you. Children are nowadays keep addicted to television sets. Its good for them in Limited time of watching tv but its not advisable for the Kids to watch tv for hours since it makes their mind Blank without any thoughts and it'll affect their thinking nature and as per today's Cartoons and Movies, they may create an Immaturity in children these days. Hence its advisable to allow children watch tv in limited amount of time.

I am not a tv person so I think it is wrong. There has to be outings even if they are only to the park :) And I do own a tv, I like to watch baseball and an occasional show now and then. And yes, cartoons are horrible, I love the cartoons when i was a kid much better. I would tho if my kid was younger, buy the cartoons that I think are ok for her to watch and get them on dvd.
