what to do with used staple wires?

I was looking at the number of used staple wires scattered on my desk as I perused over my documents. Without being aware of it, you find them scattered on your desks, on your carpets, on your floors, on your photocopiers, on your fax machine and even in your pantry. Once it has served its purpose - holding important documents together or making sure the plastic pouch doesn't spill out its contents - it lies there scattered, unwanted, cumbersome even. This got me thinking - are there ways to utilize these used staple wires? I recall asking one of my assistant before why she's collecting all the used staple wires in a can, she said she just doesn't want them scattered all over her desk. But what do you do after it has filled up the can? I asked further. She said she throws it into the trash can :-) Any bright ideas?

Tell your assistant to miss the trash can, throw them in the recycling bin! We are depleting our resources at an alarming rate and since the staples are steel they can be recycled. Other than that, if you had the time and inclination your could fasten the ends together and make chains out of them...and then you could make the chains into neck chains, bracelets and earrings.
