I've worked in a "call center" environment (off and on) for the better part of 9 years now. There are many things that can contribute to the "job" being frustrating, tools that don't work/are slow to respond, poor management, and yes the callers themselves. the thing to keep in mind all along the way is how *you* choose to handle and respond to the situation.
Bear in mind that you are doing the best you can with the tools and resources you have. You and only you make the difference in a callers experience, and ultimately how you feel at the end of the day. If you've truly giving your all, then the Co. cant ask anything more of you.
As for dealing with the "day in, day out frustrations," find ways to break-up the monotony and tedium throughout the day by making friends at work, sharing your experiences, asking and answering questions, sharing your interests inside and outside of work. Find ways to turn the "frustration" into a challenge or game, and play the game against yourself, getting the caller to come around to your way of thinking, or finding a way to trick the systems into doing what you need them to do the first time needed.
If you're just not happy with the type of call center work you're currently doing, then maybe a change is in order, to a call center environment that is more appealing to your personality.
Feel free to write me if you have any additional questions. :-)

Great suggestions. I agree that changing the way you think about the situation can make a big difference. And not just in a call center...in any work related setting.

I have found over the years that my attitude towards my job affects my view of it being boring or interesting. There is of course some jobs nothing on earth could make interesting ,in that case i would have to find another job because if i am bored i am not going to do a good job!
