Leche Flan and History

I recently learned that one of my favorite desserts, commonly found in most Asian tables, has its origin in Mexico and Spain. It can be assumed therefore, that besides imparting religion, politics and customs when they conquered my fatherland, they also brought the delicious flan or commonly known as "leche flan". This dessert is always present on our tables during holidays, weddings, birthdays, town fiesta and any family gathering you can think of.
Leche Flan is made up of eggs and milk as its main ingredients. It is made extra special if you put a dash of vanilla or lemon flavor, extra thick caramel sauce and a sprinkle of pandan to add aroma.
I love this dessert so much I can finish one "llanera" (an oval-shaped baking pan of medium size) in just one sitting.
Have you ever tasted leche flan? How was your experience with it?

I had no idea that there was flan in Asia! Wow! I'm Puerto Rican/Dominican raised in the USA and have had flan growing up all my life. We love flan and make it all the time in my culture. I do find that a lot of my non-Hispanic friends have no idea what flan is. Try making it using coconut milk, very tasty too!

Yes, I know. I also grew up with flan all my life. Thanks for the suggestion, I'll definitely try it. Btw, when do you add the coconut milk? or is it a substitute for the condensed milk? Thanks again.
