I have to say i really like both CS2 and CS3.To some it might be a " heavy " program depending on the hardware but on the right machine it is a very powerful tool I make money using photoshop cs2. The reason i stick with CS2 is because it comes with image ready.

I haven't used CS3, but I own CS2. I have been using photoshop for over 6 years. I took many classes in college where I used it. I really love it. You can really do some amazing things with photoshop! Some of my favorite tools within photoshop are the liquify tool, the hue adjuster, because sometimes I like to make an ordinary photo more artistic looking than completely realistic! I can spend hours using Photoshop!

I don't think there's a whole load of difference in terms of use. Sure there's tonnes of new features but photoshop is one of those programs where you will only use about 10% of everything on offer in your lifetime!
I agree with you it's great how you can choose how deep you want to go into it quite easily - touching up colours, or adding a second head to yourself...

wow! very interesting! I have not taken any computer course but I really like computer works and designing. My brother is a senior web developer and a software engineer that is why I'm very much interested in doing graphics and designs, I also learned using it by my own self.I kept on exploring functions and effects of its features and tools.Sometimes I helped my brother in his work.I am doing web design and he will do the rest.

I dotn use most features of photoshop but am particularly using Photoshop CS3 for its HDR option in it. It helps me create HDR (High Density Range) pictures. And also i use it to resize pictures and play a little bit of effects on my pictures. Thats all I use in Photoshop CS3. I havent fully played around with features of CS3 so i dont want to comment much on it. If i get to know most of the features and start using it i will put some feedback in this thread again.

I've only tried CS2, but it take time to load up in my computer so I revert to 7.0. Its fast, simple and it does the job for my most common graphic manipulations. Originally I learned graphics from Corel but ever since I tried Photoshop I have never went back to using others. I would really be at a lost without my favorite graphic editor.

I have cs3. But i think i need to take a course, find i am not using it to nearly its full potential. I am a bit slow with these things, but love what i have managed so far. Photography is a hobby just now, but fancy myself as a professional in a few years time. Fingers crossed.
