Do you believe the world is coming to an end? If so, why and/or when?

All faiths and beliefs welcome to pitch in- Christians/Atheists/Jehovah's Witnesses/Buddhists...even Skeptics!
Lately, the world seems to be imploding what with the natural disasaters (such as the recent rash of earthquakes and floods in China and Myanmar). It's tragic, no doubt, but is it foreshadowing a worser fate? Many experts have speculated that Nostradamus's prediction of the world ending will come true in 2012. Religious texts have also pointed out the possibility of this occuring.
What I want to know is what everyone feels about it. Are these natural disasters more than just a freak of nature or can they be explained away with scientific rationalizing? Let me know please! It'd be interesting to see how different cultures and faiths treat this subject.
I am not religious but I personally think the world is going to end in a few generations time because of all the environmental damage we are causing and more. How about you?

Maybe we can still can save the earth. I mean come on we got an asteroid coming at us. What are the odds? No matter what religions say or anyone preachers we still need come togather as humans and do whats right. If we are all going to die, than i do not want to die without trying something. Having hope is important. Lots of religion have this thing about 2012. But lots of this religions belief that this is not the end but more of a cleansing of the world from sinners. Erm..well i guess we have to wait till 2012.

THere's an asteroid coming at us?! Really? I had no idea, honestly! And I agree with you about hope and trying- there has to be some chance. I honestly hope it doesn't come to an end at 2012- too many things to experience in my life before then.
Hmm..about the cleansing of sinners...the definition of 'sinners' is relative no? Only babies are truly innocent lol...Thanks very much for the response anyway- I appreciate it!
