Hello my MYLOT friends. I participate into a discussion and the above was mentioned and because I don't understand much about abortion and how it works I decide to write this piece so I can understand it better. I would like to know what does one mean about Partial Abortions. Is this the situation were there is a danger with the mother's life and they have to abort the baby even though she did the full nine months. I have read books were there is a situation like this and the mother will tell the doctor to save the baby's life and then she died. I have never witness or hear anything such as this happen in reality. Please if you can shed some light on this. Thank you all. KERRY

I did a paper on abortion when I was in school, so I know about a lot of the procedures. A partial birth abortions is disgusting. They doctor will deliver a fetus between 20 -40 weeks feet first until only the head remains in. The doctor will them stab the fetus in the back of the neck to kill it before its head is delivered. Doctors do not consider the baby born until the head is out. That is why they refer to it as partial birth.

This is so horrible that a person would go through a bonding with the unborn child will do something like this. These doctors really need to stop these things and suggest adoption. Thanks for responding.

Sadly, this is a political term rather than a medical term and it's a procedure that's not legal in the U.S. in most cases. There are those who are against this no matter what who will say there is never a case where this is necessary to save the mother's life. I'm not a doctor, but these people accept the words of doctors who agree with their position but deny those who do not. I say, if it never happens then why would it hurt to have it has an exception anyway? It's a horrible thing for anyone to be faced and I can't imagine anyone choosing to have it done just because they changed their mind about wanting a baby after nine months. However, if a woman's life and/or health were at risk why should the government get to decide that she's the one who must die or be harmed? For the record, I'm also very much against this procedure except in these rare and extreme cases or in the case where the baby would be horribly deformed or with no chance of ever living any kind of quality life. Partial abortion occur when parts of the child being aborted remain within the mothers womb. It's sad but they use a cutting device to cut the baby to pieces so as to get it out of the mother. Sometimes when small pieces remain they begin to rot. You can understand the rest of the story.
