What Is Your Singing Fantasy?

Do you ever daydream about singing -- in front of a crowd, at a talent show, to a loved one? What is your singing fantasy? I recently attended a "concert" in which a jazz performer sang with her ensemble, and being someone who studied music but went into another field, I found myself momentarily imagining what it would be like to sing on stage...

I used to dream of serenading a boyfriend. I serenade my fiance all the time. He says I have a beautiful voice, but I don't believe it. I really like to sing, especially our song. I don't think that I could get on stage and perform, I'd be too embarrassed. I did take chorus when I was in school , but I opted out of all the concerts I could. Have a Great day.

A chorus is a safe place to become comfortable with your singing voice, because you are surrounded by (and blend in with) the others and don't necessarily stand out quite like you would singing solo... No two voices are the same, and a voice can be like food in that you appreciate different voices for different reasons. One of the best ways to improve your singing voice is to find a voice teacher that is willing to work with you... and then to practice, practice, practice! Whether your aspiration is to sing on stage or on the balcony, keep at it! (I'm sure your fiance is right, btw! ;) And thanks for your comment.

As a child I was able to mock (or mimic) a few artist's voices. Of course, that was before puberty. In school our teacher would change us around. From Alto to soprano, to test how our voices sound in different places. This would only last for a week before we either stayed or were switched back. I know that practice makes perfect, and that no one's persons voice is the same. I love singing for my fiance, and i know that it works to calm him when he just needs sleep. Thanks for your advice and encouragement, I much appreciate it.

I've always dreamed of being in a musical. Singing AND acting.. What more can you ask for?! Haha. When I was younger my only audience was composed of the four walls of our bathroom, but I have recently learned to embrace my passion for singing, which is why I can now sing in front of other people. I know well that I'm not the best singer or performer, but I love doing it nonetheless! There's always room for improvement! Lolz. xoxo, ajhie!

Hello, ajhie, and thanks for your comment! Musicals are fun and a lot of work, especially when *dancing* gets added to the singing and acting (LOL). Bathrooms are great places to sing, because they are usually built with the unintended benefit of great acoustics! Where else does the sound of your voice bounce all over the place... and have the sound of running water to drown it own from being heard throughout the rest of the house? LOL In my experience, part of the challenge in being able to get in front of people is getting past yourself and learning to see your performance - not for what it will benefit you - but for how it will benefit the folks in the seats. :-)

No way I am way too shy in that type of setting. I am so outgoing but I can't be in front of people performing, it's strange lol

I have been singing since I was 6 years old ( I am now 36) I doubt I will ever be famous, my time has most certainly passed but I have a dream of singing at the applo theater. I am white and I know if you aren'tgreat (not good) they would certainly let you know. It would be the ultimate acheivement for me to sing a song start to finish and have the entire crowd on their feet by the end. I I had ever made it in the biz I know my dream was to be in a filled stadium with the entire crowd singing my song so loud that I could only step back and cry :) Anyone would care to fulfill my dream email me at candb13@optonline.net

All I wanted was to be able to be a part of my school's singing ensemble. I passed the first round of auditions, but I failed the technical stuff like note reading. The pianist said I could carry a tune but they need someone who can read notes so I didn't make it. I get invited to singing gigs by the same ensemble though.
