SOrry my friends, I know I have been away quite a lot again. But my son was in the hospital until last wednesday and I spent all my time there. He had zillions of tests and no special headache while in there. As I said in another post when he went to the emergency, they did a ct scan, a lumbar puncture and also has blood work done. Ct scan was fast with the results, and was normal. Bloodwork came back fine according to the doctors. And then we waited forever for the spinal tap culture results. Well, I guess I can understand, they usually take about 48 hours and everything happened during the weekend which made up for the delay. In any case, on tuesday they finally got the results back. They were negative. So basically what they were able to tell us, was what Andre didn't have, to which I should be grateful of course. He doesn't have bacterial meningitis. Now the results were unconclusive as to what he had viral meningitis or not. So they sent him home with no specific diagnose. It could be either viral meningitis which according to them would clear up by itself between 7-10 days, or a regular viral infection with a big migraine. They couldn't rule out either one and they couldn't know for sure which one. During the rest of the week andre wasn't worse but not necessarily much better either. He still had a small headache at least each day that would go away with the advil they told us to give him. But yesterday - we were actually all ready to go spend the day at a park, coolers, hats, bathing suits etc etc etc - Andre started complaining about a headache just as we sat in the car, it got way worse before we even left the neighbourhood so we had to turn back. He threw up in the car before we were able to be back home and there was no time to even wash it. We just took the coolers off and I stayed home to put everything back on the fridge while dad took him to the hospital again. I joined them as soon as I was finished with the food. Andre was in real bad shape with the strongest headache, and specially the nausea. He threw up quite a few times until they gave him gravol.Poor kid had nothing to bring out but his stomach didn't seem to believe him. After they gave him the gravol and then the pain medication he was fine and ready to come home. Again they couldn't tell us anything else new. No, it isn't bacterial meningitis, but it can be viral or a migraine. Actually they did tell us that sometimes there is a second wave of very strong headache with the viral meningitis and they think this was the case. But can't be sure - they made sure to point that out to us grrrr WE got it! We got it!!!! SO we came back at around 4pm - after being at the hospital since 7sm. ANdre was so hungry he wanted to eat this world and the other LOL He was fine all night as well. Today he had to go to school to get the stuff from his locker so I asked my daughter to go with him because he has to be there at the same time I had to be at work. Mid morning my daughter calls me. ANdre had a headache again! But even worse was the nausea, again. No, worse was the fact that I really needed to finish a few things before leaving because report cards are going home today. SO I only got home at 2pm. THankfully my daughter had given him all that I asked when I talked to her over the phone. SO he had the advil and the gravol and was much better, but I'm back in panic mode grrr. Ok ... so they did say that he might still get the headaches for a few more days... let's see how it goes. He does have another appointment with the family doctor - he already saw her on thursday - just for follow up and we'll see... but it's one of the scariest things !!!!!!! Anyway, Just to leave an update. I will try to be back as soon as things calm down. Hugs to all

Hello twin dear, hope you're feeling better. Thankfully it seems that my son is finally getting better. THey still think it might have been viral meningitis but they aren't completely sure. Today he had no headaches:):)

WOW... I am so sorry your son has to be experiencing that. I hate how they can't tell you WHAT something is. My yungest was in intensive care when he was 8 mo old for 15 days.. then a private regular room for another week. He just got better and we went home.. to this day.. (9yrs later) we still have no idea what he had in the first place !! My prayers are with you, you know that. I hope it all works out. I know migraines can be awful (I am prone to get them) and they can cause significant nausea.. if they still can't tell you what's wrong, I'd seriously think about taking him to a specialist.. take care sweetie..

I hate it when all they can say is what the child doesn't have too! It's scary and the feeling of no control takes over. I often have migraines too so I really have a good idea of how bad it is for him. Thanks for being there.

Hugs to YOU~~~ goodness, my friend...what an ordeal!! I pray it is over for you all soon...and that he is back to the happy, healthy boy he was before all of this started!! It is so scarey when your children are sick..it just doesn't seem fair..I think as parents we would all trade places with them in a heartbeat if we could!! Best of luck and we'll keep good thoughts and send light and energy your way!

Thank you my friend. Yes the hunger gave me a positive feeling, it was so normal... but then he got the headache again and I got back to panic grrrr... Seeing the family doctor in a few hours but I really doubt that she has anything else to add.

Thank you. Going to the doctor again today, but I have little hope that she can add anything else other than what we already know.

im glad that all lab test and scan turn out to be fine..i mean negative ..just wondering what causes the headache and the nausea..actually i had some attacks of that years back when im still working fulltime..and every time i felt that i will also vomit and and pain is intolerable! it was due to my acidity i guess since whenever i take some acid neutralizer and not so hot tea or water it will slowly gone as if nothing happens,,plus i use some liniment that was rub at my back..it soothes me...since then on i see to it not to eat fatty and gaseous food..and it works...im not suggesting that your son maybe acidic or what..just sharing what i was been experiencing also.

Funny you say that because a few times he had the headache and the nausea after eating. Not sure if it is related or not. I am glad it isn't viral meningitis, but I really would like to know for sure what it is and how to help him. More than that I wish I could take those headaches from him. I guess we just have to wait and see....
