Does anyone know if there are folks out there making money from Sims 2? What I mean is - are there people online who are selling clothing downloads, characters, etc.?

Yes there are some people that are making money from making customs. If you give a donation get speical items that month and/or pass months from the creator. Some sites have really good donation packs that I want, but why pay when I can get things for free!! (:

I have heard of people downloading things from sites that rely on donations. I'm sure the people running the site make some money, but not a whole lot. If you are doing something for donations though you are doing it because you enjoy it not because you think you will make a lot of money off of it. Also, Badtz Maru is cool. :)

I'm sure they use the donations just to keep their website up.I don't think they could make a living out of it. It would be a cool job! I just wish I could make my own customs. ): I'm not that gifted! Do you now how to make them? Badtz Maru is awesome! He so evil and I love it! :D

There certaintly are! There is one, huge site called The Sims Resource (thesimsresource.com) and it sells memberships that allow you to get member only items, and there are VERY talented artists in there! You can also download a lot of free stuff (much more than they need to give away, so that is very nice of them) but they do make some money off of the other stuff. Whether or not they profit from it after paying for the site hosting and all, I do not know.

If some of the other comments on this thread are accurate, "The Sims Resource" must sell "memberships" which give members (free) access to a greater catalog of items? The items which they freely make available to the general public are intended to show you the quality of their work (of which you can have access to more with your paid membership). It is a classic online marketing arrangement: Here is a free sample that delivers high value to you, showing you the even greater value you will receive when you purchase more from us. As you say, who knows if they make a profit? Maybe they just like Sims 2 so much? (I suspect that they are making a profit if they have been around for any length of time, though.) I discovered how to make clothing for Sims 2 by browsing around on the internet. The Sims 2 program actually comes with a feature that allows you to do this... Thanks for your reply, Dee!

I am very interested in your question because, I too, am trying to find a "REAL JOB" and my computer does not meet the requirements enough to create Sims 2 items, which sucks to a very high degree. I was wondering, do you think you could email me at: mrs.glorioso@hotmail.com ....and tell me just what you have found out, if anything at all and what the requirements of it are. I love the Sims 2 Pc game with a passion. I always have ever since I was given "The Sims 2 DoubleDeluxe" from my mother. I'd really appreciate your reply very soon. I'm always online, so hit me up. Thank you, Trish

I've never heard of anyone making money on Sims 2 items. I know any time I've ever downloaded anything it's always been for free.

Dee gives an accurate description. (Thanks, Dee!) What I find amazing about the game its accuracy to life. You see a window into each character's thoughts. They all have needs. You can watch them change their minds - first they want to eat, then they want to sleep; the baby starts crying, and so the baby becomes a priority. When I first purchased the game, I played it for a long time. Then I started looking at real people and seeing them do the same things! Obviously, I could not see their thoughts, but I would watch the real people doing exactly what the characters in the game were doing, with similar motivations. They would go from one thing to another as their priorities changed and as their mind went from one need to the next. It was amusing and entertaining.

The Sims is a simulation game. You can build characters and complete families, your home and even stores. With Sims 2, you are able to take the genes of two sims and create a baby that looks just like both of them. You can also adopt or create pets. You can create stores and neighborhoods, Universities, and a lot more. You basically play with them like you would have played with dolls, except they are virtual. You create a whole life for them...they get jobs, promotions, they fist fight with each other, they mate with each other, they even cook food! It's really pretty neat. You should check out www.sims2.com for more information.
