Creek Bed

Creek Weeds - I loved watching these weeds moving side to side
from the motion of the creeks babbling etc.

My wife and I went for a LONG walk through the local Nature Center near us on Sunday after I had a busy weekend. It was peaceful and soothing. This is a shot of one of the small creeks in the nature centers paths. We sat watching the green weeds floating back and forth from the waters movement. It was hypnoti=zing in a way if I stared too long. The sounds from the water were typical babbling sounds like we hear in movies etc as well. I enjoyed the time alone and away from the rest of the family for a change this weekend. Did you have many family visitors this past weekend? HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hi there Grandpa, We had also a little tour with my hubby in the lake closest to us to be away from usual environment and have a break from usual routine...It's really soothing and relaxing! I wish we live next to that lake,LOL! No visitors last weekend but it's great though!

I have been thinking about going to a lake near me and rent a canoe for a serene day of resting etc. Well a lot of arm work but still a rest none the less. This I would do alone as my wife doesn't really like canoes that much. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

No no visitors this week end. We are going to have visitors this week. My son is coming tomorrow and my sister and her son may come tomorrow or the next day. I am so excited for them all to come. Our son is going to have his first baby in Jan or Feb of next year so he is looking to get a job here in town and wanting to move back to town. Yayaya. He wants to raise his child around mom and dad. My older sister is coming with her 10 year old son. I love them and they have not been down for two years. Her son will love the pool. It has been 105 and 106 this last weekend. We are not expecting such record heat this week thou.

Where are they coming from? Distance wise I mean. A long trip or not? I hear the temps in California are really ridiculous as of late. I could not live where it gets into the triple digits so often. The high 80's are enough for me actually. Hope you all have a great visit and wish him luck in finding employment near you as well. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

My son and his girlfriend live near Reno NV a four hour drive from here. They get almost as hot as we do. My older sister is flying in from Seattle WA. They have had very little sunshine this summer. She is in dire need of sun. One thing about CA's triple digits is we do not have the humidity it gets around 30% humidity and we are dying of the humidity. We are about 25% today. It is only 92 degrees today and we have th house opened up. We also have a nice breeze so we have not used the air conditioner since last saturday and Sunday when it was 105 and 106. Now that was boiling. We have the pool like lot of CA's do. We cannot handle the heat without something to help keep us cool. We do a lot of barbecuing outside from spring to fall. Some people with covered patios barbecue all year long, especially if then have a gas grill. We use the charcoal and ligher fluid like the cave men did and I do the grilling. My hubby does not do the grilling.

I love those kinds of nature paths. My son's been staying with us this past week, working here, so my daughter came over, and then we all went on a hike at Nelson's Ledges State Park. It's kind of a rough trail over slippery rocks, and there are dangerous cliffs and crevices where you can get stuck. My husband was climbing around like a monkey, jumping over crevices, and scaring me. His favorite thing to do is to go on ahead, and get up in some high spot, and then spy on us. I stuck to the easy trails, which were hard enough for me.

Well Groomed Trail - They really try their best to maintain the trails. This is so neat looking isn't it?
Here is a shot of one of the many miles of trails here. they try their best to keep it maintained but there are areas that need some repairs etc. I wished I had a lot of money to donate to their trails to upkeep them neatly. But most of it is nice looking. I am too old to do the stuff your hubby does. well not too old, just not as limber as I used to be. Hee hee. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Hiya! Good photo. I was just talking with my mother-in-law at the weekend and we decided we might start going for walks. It's something I used to do quite a bit when I was younger but now I get too lazy after a weeks work I just want to chill at the weekend. But now the weather is nice again, I think it would be nice to make the most of a couple hours at the weekend and get out in the fresh air, get some exercise, take photos. It's not really something my B/F is interested in.

The city I live in is fairly quiet at night as well. So sitting in my back yard I can still hear the birds singing their nightly tunes. I want to build a water pond with water plants in the back. But that's costly and a lot more work than I am ready for. Thanks also. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

Good morning, Grandpa Bob. Sounds like you had a really nice and quiet Sunday for a change. Quiet settings like this makes you long for the farm, I bet. I've laid in a hammock down by the creek in total relaxation at times just listening to the creek flowing over the rocks and the tiny waves lapping at the bank. Totally hypnotizing it is. We very seldom have visitors, family or friends for noone likes to come see us but yet, expect us to go see them all the time.

The best part was being away from dad for sometime actually. Almost sounds mean but I need a break now and then and haven't been to the casino in ages it seems. That's changing this week though. Hahahaha!! HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That sounds devine. I haven't looked at the picture yet but will when finished with this. It does sound like a place to get some rest and maybe a nap. That was great you and your wife could get some relaxing time away. Not any visitors this weekend for us. :(

A nap wouldn't work as there are way too many bugs biting you as you walk through the woods. It is all wooded areas on the trails so the bugs are thick as maple syrup. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

that sounds really nice! i didn't have family visitors over the past weekend, but one thing in common was that my hubby and i went for a long walk too! probably not as long, and not as scenic as yours. we walked for an hour in the cool night breeze on a park connector road in my city. living in a garden city means that we don't get much wild nature, but still it was good to walk that 5km or so, and some parts of it was really quiet and peaceful. i enjoy long walks - it's good exercise and lower impact on your knees than jogging.

I got eaten alive by the mosquitos though during that walk. But all in all it was worth it to be with Debbie alone somewhere peaceful and so serene feeling. We live in a city of 60,000 but we have a lot of areas nearby for nature walks etc. HAPPY POSTINGS FROM GRANDPA BOB !!~

That's a lovely photo. I have been to nature parks before and seen brooks and streams. They are always so beautiful and peaceful. I'm not sure why I would feel that water is peaceful. But, it just feels that way. I'm happy to hear that you had fun. We don't usually have many visitors, just us three in the house. It's still fun! Be well. Have a beautiful day.

I love walking along a creek--here in Ohio, it's a "crick". I know what you mean about getting away from the family. My mother is coming to escape the hurricane season in Florida and arrives today. While I love her so much, having her around every single day is a bit stressful at times for both of us--we're very private people. But it's usually a wonderful experience that we both enjoy. Hey, maybe I can get her to join myLot as a referral!

Hi , That is a lovely picture and it must of been very soothing indeed . Water has always had a calming effect over me and the sound is very peaceful. My whole summertime is spent by the pool or going to the docks. This past weekend we had no one over it was a very mellow one spend inside mostly . My poarents usually do make a stop over every other week . My brother though and his girlfriend are here just about daily .

Yes its very annoying to have creek sounds from the Bed. At nights we hear these creek sounds from our neighbors and the thing is very natural to do that thing at that time for a husband and wife but that creek sound makes very disturbance which makes me wake up in the middle of the night.

Our weekend was pretty quiet and dull as I was on my computer all day mylotting. When I was a kid I used to walk to horse c'reek, which was close to our farm, it was deep and dark blue green and full of minnows and carp. Also around the creek were the weedsthat had an odd odor and made livestock act really weird if they ate the stuff. It was called locoweed. Also there were tons of chokecherry bushes and buffalo berry bushes. we did pick a lot of chokecherries and mom made jelly from them. the buffalo berries have vivious thorns and pretty crimson berries that look a lot like currants but are rather tangy. they make an excellent jelly but oh my the thorns are really mean. I miss not having a creek like that around here. but we do have the Pacific Ocean .lol.

I was fortunate to grow up in the summers with my grandparents and live in the country. We had creeks babbling and the spring had the coldest water. What was really neat when my children got old enough I would put them all in a car and take them down to Meramec Caverns. the Meramec river ran by it and there was a part that was shallow enough for all family members to play regardless of age. We just had to watch the current. Sometimes it was slower than others. My kids have good memories of spending time on weekends we would rent the motel and they played all weekend long. Gave us a good break from city life. Here is a beautiful video if you would like to see not sure where you are from. I grew up in Missouri. http://www.americascave.com/index_movie.php
