Cats cars, wild animals, outside or inside

I am truly sorry for the 2 women who had cats hit by cars, especially the girls cat who passed away. I don't want to sound like a broken record but please don't let your cats outside unless they are on a harness and leash. Dusk and dawn are the worst times for cats. They cannot see like us and at any time of the day or night they cannot judge the distance of a car as it approaches them. Even if the cat begs to be let out do not do it unless you are there to supervise and it is best to have a halter and long leash that you can control the lenght of. There's also wild animals, creepy people, and all sorts of places to get stuck in and not be able to get out. Cats that are allowed out only have one half of the life span of an indoor cat. So please keep your cat a pet and leave it indoors, look at the trouble they get into indoors never mind outside. There was a show on years ago called Cats, about 4 hours long and it shows you what a cat see's, if you can get the movie watch it. Any how I have said enough, and I am very sorry for any one who loses a pet.

That is precisely why my cat is an indoor cat. She is allowed on the screened porch, but anywhere beyond that is out of the question. She has gotten out by accident several times though. Luckily, however, she gets so scared that she never strays far from the house and always wants to come back in almost instantly thereafter.
The fact that such accidents can be prevented, however, does not make it any easier on those who have lost a pet in this way - if anything, it makes it seem all the more senseless and distressing. I, too, am so very sorry for those who lost/had their cats hit by cars their cats recently, and sympathize much for anyone who loses a pet, especially in such a sudden and accidental manner.
