I always believe that to be honest is better no matter what is the situation. You see when you are dishonest it always comes back to be a thorn in your side. So I would advice anyone to be has honest as possible.

I guess there are times that maybe it is best not to say anything, I don't like lies as I think one can't deal with lies and most people find them out anyway...one must have a good memory to lie..and my motto is the truth never changes so you can't get caught out telling different stories...i would prefer to be told the truth no matter how bad then it can be dealt with...

Why is it necessary to be dishonest to save a WIsE one? If he/she is wise then he/she would not have done anything thatwould put him/her in a situation where someone has to lie to save him/her.And why does it have to be someone else who will be dishonest to save the "wise" one? The saying "honesty is the best policy" merely means that in the end it is better to be honest because you will be saving yourself from a lot of dishonesty in the future if you chose to be honest in the first place. While sometimes you may land in hot water for being honest, still in the long run, you will be better off being honest and saying the truth. Telling tom ,many lies or being dishonest too often can end in nothing but being caught up in your own web of deception.
