When we used to go the hotel, after having the mean, dinner after getting the bill, we will make the payment through the waiter, when he bring back the bill and the balance amount, we used to pay some amount as "TIPS" to the waiter, who served you..
Some times, when we go to the some of the new hotels, they make us to wait for a long times, we will be irritated, in those cases, i never pay any of the TIPS to any one.. Even i pay, that may be very meger amount..
What about you..? will you have a habit of paying the TIP to the waiter in the hotel (Restaurant) or Lodges where you stay..?
Please post your comments..

Basically it's a 1-5 rating on what does the waiter do. Does he/she do a good job or bad job or somewhere in between? For me that's like,
I'll give you 0$ if you do a terrible neglecting job and you are selfish and stuff.
I'll give you 1$ if you did a terrible job, but 1 for effort.
I'll give you 2$ if you were doing alright, still bad though.
I'll give you 3$ if you're a bit average.
I'll give you 4$ if you are doing very good, but you messed up about once or twice
And
I'll give you 5$ if you did a very excellent job and made no mistakes. ^_^
that's how I go on tipping.

Well, Panda basically covered what I would say, except I do have one difference: I would probably leave at least one dollar. I cannot imagine how stressful waitressing is. A waitress has to check in with every table, constantly refill drinks (It is wise to start me off with two cups, one to drink now, and one to drink while you're refilling the other cup.) and ask if their is a problem. Waitresses seem to be the people who are first to get the complaints, because they are the first that the customer sees. If the customer is unhappy, the customer usually takes it out on the waitress, when more than likely they did not make their food, they are just serving it and doing their best to make the customer happy.

Hi
We usually give tips to the waiter. It depends on their service that how much amount we pay as tips. If they serve the food on right time, the way they deal with the customer and the quality of food etc will determine the tip. If the waiters seems to be arrogant (rarely) and make us to wait unnecessarily then we will not give any thing as tip. We just give the bill amout and leave the hotel or restaurant. But as I said this will happen very rarely.

We tip everyone. The job that they did, says how they will get paid. I have tipped a bellboy $5 for carrying my bags. I did that because he was friendly and helpful. A waiter I tip between 3 and 5 dollars. I know this is how they earn their living (as having been a waitress before in my working life).

I usually do pay tip to waiter, It is a polite way and a little never hurts, but sometimes they waiters are bad, it takes long time for us to get anything and we have to wait long, in that case I don't give anything. It is rude to even think of getting something.

Well it depends to me I check the bill first and if I saw that they have service charge I did not give any tip coz I already paid the service they do for me. But if they don't have service charge I leave a tip for the good service they gave to me and if the I did not like there services I didn't give or leave a tip.

i seldom gave TIP (To Insure Promptness) to waiters because according to my professor in Business writing subject, its in a package, meaning, services to customers are already part of their job, im not being sarcastic with the waiters, but that's what the restaurant proprietors are paying for.
happy posting!

I usually give a little to show my appreciation. I worked part time at a restaurant before where the TIPS was always divided equally. Sometimes, when one of the employees give birth or is in need of money, the funds from patrons' tips are used for that. The only times when I don't give are when I'm really broke; but there's always a service charge on the bill anyway so it's not like I totally don't give anything back to the waiters. :)

Tips are given for services that you are satisfied with. Sometimes you give tips so that when you come back and the waiter recognizes you, you will get good service again. So it is up to you not to give if you are dissatisfied with the way you were treated.
But there are establishments that incorporates the tips in your bill which they call service charge. In this case no need to tip.
There are also places where it is customary to tip 10-20 percent of the bill. And it is considered rude not to give tips.

I will certainly tip the server or the waiter. According to me, it is the way of showing courtesy. By tipping a small amout, u lose nothing.

Paying tips to a person who is serving us is just a manner, though it is not compulsory.I have never payed tips to a waiter in a star restaurant, but in a ordinary mediocre restaurant,I pay tips 5-10 percent to the amount of the bill I am paying. That depends on how much satisfied I am which the waiters service.

It really depends.. When we go to restaurants, usually they have this service charge so I think that already covers the supposed to "TIP" of the waiters. But there are some restaurants that don't have service charge. That's the time we give tips to waiters.

If I'm at something like a hotel, then I consider a tip to be a bit more called for, and I will usually tip the waiter as long as the waiter doesn't give me a reason not to. :/ Although if I'm anywhere less fancy than a hotel or really nice restruant, then I usually won't tip the waiter.
