business deal gone bad :(

What a blow. I've been working with this small company for about 4 months. It's an internship where they guaranteed that I would be hired on after 3 months. Well, I just got word that they don't want me to work with them anymore. I'm frustrated because of the way they told me. Are you ready for this? They emailed me. Is this a cowards way of approaching someone or is it just me being sensitive? I was completely off guard because they discussed salary, benefits, business trips, etc., plus continued to give nothing but positive feedback and praised the work that I did. I turned down other jobs that paid 2x as much because the business relationship that I had with the owner was very positive. Then this was dropped on me. So what do you think? Am I being hypersensitive or were they completely un-professional?

Wow :( That does seem to be unprofessional of them to just send you an email. I know that this is the age for such things but still, given your quite friendly relationship with the company you'd think they would have the decency to call you into the office and tell you this in private.

Yes. I agree. That's unprofessional at their end. Not having the respect to tell you personally about the matter. It just shows how poor their integrity is at taking care of their interns and prospective employees. I do understand how you feel and I would feel the same way as you do if I had the same situation. Although, I did have the same situation a few days ago. It was through phone. The one I spoke with was stuttering. Hey, just curious, on your internship, were you given a contract to sign?

You are not the first person I have heard of being fired through email. I think that is a horrible buisness practice! I would be very upset with them. Can you talk to someone to see if they can give you a reason?
