Do you eat paper or other thing when you are very hungry?

For the earthquake of China, many people are buried in the collaps building. They don't have drink and food, they eat everything which can avoid they feeling hungry, like paper, cigaret, ect. Will you eat those things? When you are very hungry, there is only paper and grass, earth, which will you eat at first?

I really can't imagine eating any of those things, but if I had to choose I would probably eat the paper first. I know that grass makes my dog throw up and throwing up would leave you in a worse situation than before you ate anything. I suppose some dirt would be next, but I don't see how you could swallow it so maybe the grass next, but paper would definitely be first.

I heard some people are eating dirt at the time, there is no food. There is a time, that China suffer from 3 year without enough food to eat dure to the bad whether. People eat that kind of dirt, which just make you full, and that dirt will stay in your stomach, hardly be excret out.
