Which language do you think is the most worth to learn?

As the title, if you want to choose a second language, which do you choose to learn, which do you think is the most popular and useful except english? I 'd like to learn another language, but don't know which is good, some of my friend choose spanish.

I think that should depend on your interests and your direction of development.Most chinese students learn english as a second language,but it in most cases is just to meet the tests.Some students learn a second foreign language because they want have a better development in France,Spain or Germany.Many foreigners learn chinese because they have a great interests in chinese culture.As for me,I should learn Russian because my major is Cold War History.

In my major we have to choose Franch or Janpanese. But some friend don't want to continue with these two language, they think Spanish is good, because many countries speak Spanish and few can understand english. I don't know whether it's true.
