Do any of you notice that there are a lot of fender benders involving senior citizens? I think it's because they are going to slow or not going at all. I sit behind them at yield signs while they start and stop several times before pulling out in front of screeching speeders. The roads are just too crowded for them to be safe and the ruthless young fast speed demons are unforgiving as they too are a dangerous bunch.

Even though it would be a pain to go through for those of use who are healthy enough, both mentally and physically, to drive safely, I've always believed that when it's time to renew your driver's license, you should also have to take the written and driving exams over again.
As people age, their reflexes do slow down. It can be dangerous in a car. But to single out senior citizens to renew the driving tests is not fair. Everyone should have to do it.
It seems that more and more drivers are breaking more and more driving laws, making it dangerous for everyone. The laws are there to protect us, yet so few these days actually follow them.
That's why I think that renewing our driver's licenses should entail taking each one of the tests over again.

I'd be fine with that. It would probably make everyone aware of driving rules, because we usually started driving at 16. We have forgotten a lot of little things. Some people forget to drive slow in the slow lane and not to cut four lanes across the freeway as close to sideways as possible. There are a lot of things we forget. It would be a good idea to keep us all sharp. Some senior citizens are speed demons too.

Statistically the young speed demons are more dangerous than the senior citizens. I think they should RAISE the age for new drivers' licenses! Human brains aren't even completely formed until they are 25. Little wonder they have trouble with decision making and maintaining focus.

Statistically more of the deaths are caused by the young. What about just fender benders? What are the statistics on that?
