Which word do you prefer for this sport? Soccer or Football? I'd so rather call this footbal because most of the game consists of foot, kicking. So it has more right to be called football. Unlike the rugby in the USA, they call it American Football but the seldom use their foot in kicking the ball and the ball does not even looked like a shape of a foot. So, where did this term come from? I think that American Football should stick to Rugby. Spare the football word.

I would much rather call it football. It simply makes more sense than calling American football, football; I mean the only time one touches the ball with their feet is the kickoff and a conversion. Livinig in Canada i callit footballas much as i can, hoping it would catch on; sadly eveeryone thinks im talking of American football.

yes, i agree with you, it is more appropriate to be called football because the players only use their foot to play the game. and there's a lot of running which again uses the feet. yes, occasionally they use their heads too but most of the time it's the foot that does the work.

I like to call it Football because that's its original name. The only reason why it is called Soccer as well because most countries had or have a sport that is known as Fottball.
