do you consider only visual art [photography, sketches, paintings, etc] art? or do you think art encompasses music and literature and film also? when you think of art, what do you think of, and what types of art do you enjoy most? do you express yourself through any forms of art? if so, what?
i personally write and take photos. i wish i were more talented at painting, but i have a hard time making anything except abstract paints, which isn't that exciting.

in my own opinion, art is not specific..for the reason that, in everything that we do, there'd always be a touch of art. but when i think of art, drawings, paintings, music, photography pop in my mind. well i often express my feelings through composing songs, poems, and drawings. but all of my arts are kept in a cabin, where people can't read or see them. i'm not confident enough.

Art is artisrtist perogative the person making it is to say. Or maybe its the other way around, its for others to say? Personally I think anything in life and everything in life can be considered art from the classics to the man who washes cars and has it down to an art form. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder at times. Whos to say, what is art to one may be garbage to another and vice versa. Good post and happy lotting your mylot. Sincerely David :)

For me, I rarely contemplate the meaning of art or what it is, I just enjoy. I guess I would call something an art if it's something that is created that is not necessarily used for work, but it can be. That's the problem, if I say that only works that are non-functional are art, then all these wonderful things that are creative and functional come to mind. If I say it's something that's beautiful, then that leaves out a lot of creative work that is not necessarily beautiful, but thought provoking. And, if I say it should be thought provoking, then that leaves out a lot of creative things that are beautiful. So, I guess, for me, it's just about everything made with care and with human hands.

i agree completely. thats the reason i posted this, because art is virtually undefinable, which is pretty cool if you ask me.

Yes I think art can be applied to any creative activity.
There are many forms of visual arts including painting, drawing, sculpture, film, video, architecture, pottery, photography, conceptual and installation art.
Music and dance are also forms of art.
I think the art of writing good prose or poetry and the dramatic arts can be considered separate artforms and can also be combined with other forms of art.
I enjoy being creative and do it mainly in writing and photography.
