Well, we don't usually eat outside because it's too expensive when the whole family go out and eat. With our economic situation today, We need to be practical. Just eat out once in a while. I have a friend who said, they always eat outside because they have no time to cook. It is easier to just order your food and sit down to eat, no more preparation to make.
Well, that's fine if you have plenty of money.
What about you? Do you often eat out? What's the difference between your own cooking and the food outside?
Tell me your story. Thanks.

When I was living in the U.S.A I think I ate out way more often than I should have. It didn't help that I had every major type of fast food resturant within 10 minutes of my home.
Breakfast was a particular evil time as I am usually not wanting to prep a meal at that time.
But I have since moved to Australia and the availablity of the local fast food resturant has been cut to almost none.
Maybe this will help me with my will power to lose some excess weight.

I often take my family out to have fun time and eat on these places, yes it is expensive now, but I do this once a week for a change to the family for wife and kids.

i love mcdonalds or kfc.. but i cant imagine eating out most days of the week.. there is just something about home cooked meals that it is more satisfying for me.. most of the fast foods are also unhealthy with all the calories..

I eat out every Saturday because my boyfriend and I always go out on that day. There are times in the week I may eat out if I just didn't get time to cook or if I'm doing errands and I get super hungry, I got no choice!
I personally like home-cooked meals, although if I haven't had a certain fast food for a while, like over a month, I may suddenly get a craving for it.
I don't eat McD's either. We don't have one here, but we do have Burger King.
I think the difference with my own cooking and outside food is it it more healthy and nutritious, even if it is fried rice and stuff like that, you know what you are putting into it. That said, I still don't make a fuss to eat outside unless the food looks or smells unappetizing or the surroundings don't seem hygienic (which is very rare, thank goodness!)

yes you are correct. These branded places are so horribly expensive. Though I must say that the big Macs are very filling too. I did not like the Subway sandwiches as they are not really worth the money and KFC is yummy of course but cant chew all that chicken. So we eat maybe once in a while at these places and then also its more like a treat. Like next month for my son’s birthday, we plan to go to McDonald’s for lunch…it’s a treat for him. Previously when we stayed together with my in-laws we could never order food home…it would be too expensive for the entire family. So we had to eat outside even if we did not like it. But now we do order home but its from our local eateries. They are more reasonable.

We usually just go out to eat on weekends or special occasions, and not even every weekend. Maybe 2-3 times a month.
We used to eat out a lot more, just because of the convenience factor. That was when I was working, though. I was just too tired a lot of times by the time I got home from standing on my feet all afternoon, and then taking care of my baby all evening. It was just easier to go grab something to eat, so we did 2-3 times a week then!

I just take myself out to eat usually. I try to order something that is not that expensive. Yesterday I went to Checkers which is kind of a local chain something like Sonic. it only cost 4.71

Well, for me I always treat myself to somehting on my paydays...usually I order food with the girls at work, but lately our local delivery place has cheapened down the quality of their food (prob b/c of gas prices) and raised their prices...so we had to find another place nearby that has even better food, better prices, but we have to go pick it up.
And I love the dollar menu at McD's cannot tell you the last time I ordered a value meal when you can practically get everyhting off of there. Also, I love to get coupons for restaurants I go to often. Like Subway, Mcd's, Burger King...oh and I have to have Taco Bell once a month.
I do cook a lot of homecooked meals...and try to cook them from scratch. And if I find somehting I like at a restaurant I try to imitate it at home....got that one from my mom. She always did that growing up, I just try to make them healthier.
But mainly my meals are homecooked and I take left overs for lunch the next day or freeze them for a later lunch. This little technique has saved me a lot.
If I ordered lunch only out at work at a whopping $6 x 5 days a week=$30 per week....that's $120 per month Yearly costs $1440...for the convience of not cooking.
Right now I spend maybe 30 per month equaling a yearly cost of $360 per year saving me $1081 per year on fast food.
I know one girl at work who eats fast food for every meal...I have not figured those costs, but let's just say I probably would pass out.
How much do you save by not eating fast food as much as you used to?

I work so I eat lunch from one of the fast food places nearby or get Chinese take out just about every day. Since it's only my husband and me at home these days we might eat out once a week and then it's usually Subway or pizza because there's not too much to choose from located nearby. The difference between my own cooking and what we have available around here in the area of eating out would be that I cook things that you can't get unless you drive for two hours.

I think it is not healthy to eat out too often even if we can afford because most if not all fastfoods and restaurants out there do put lots of additives and msgs and sometimes even preservatives to their food. As I am a health advocate, I make it a point to prepare our own food no matter how tired I am. We also do eat out during unavoidable times like when we go shopping but I make sure not too often and I make sure I refrain from unhealthy foods being offered out there.
