hello fellow kababayan... do you think it is right to boycot mr. millionairre because his hurting us. His question is not proper. the subject negatively strikes on us filipinos. His making an false impression to us through the statement of his buddy... he should be cautious on his heading... that if he has question about us, filipinos, he should not wrote it that way. it is offensive and i would like to object... eventhough his not the one who says that... But, he is the one who wrote it here... For you, what do you think?

Thank you guys for not boycotting and for your comments.
It was never my intention to hurt anyones feelings and as some of you know I have the utmost respect for this country and for Filipinos.
As you know my son is Filipino and so is his mom!
My intention was to draw attention to the thoughts of some people. Do you know that this is the opinion of a lot of foreigners?
Maybe we can work together to change this opinion.
I have a small team of students who are working so hard to increase their money. i am so proud of them as I see them go through their internal struggles and face their fears to get success at the other end.
Maybe I should have used a different title, but would it have got the attention that it got if I put something really lame?
I hope that there will be a lot of good from this discussion.
Tim

hello, i raised this topic because i was upset from the subject heading that you chose. It is a fallacy of generalization that you might consider. but, it was written already and you have explained...
just tell your friend that not all filipinos are poor and lazy, and inorder for him to arrived with that consclusion, and affirm it, he should have gone all through the places in the philippines and experience to mingle with various societies that my country has...

I do understand both sides here so lets just calm down and repair whatever damage was caused. I must admit that the title indeed caught my attention and instantly brewed ire into me but reading the entire content and the remarks made me feel a little calmer. Let us show that we are true Pilipinos indeed and what else are Pilipinos known for if not for their great heart for hospitality.:D

first impression are usually wrong, besides they are just mere impressions. They are entitle to it.
there's a sound of truth in his statement and it doesn't apply only to filipinos. all lazy people ends up poor really.
there are poor people everywhere, even in the most rich countries.

yes, there was a sound of truth in his writing... but, making it universal is not acceptable. he could used some in his title...

I don't think we should boycott him just because of that discussion. The title doesn't sound really that offensive. It's actually catchy that's why it got quite a number of response from us members. That's just for me. Let's not make a big deal out of it anymore and it's not like he was starting a heated argument or fight with anyone. His discussion was clear and is not rude at all. Cheers!

ok... in my opinion i was hurt by his subject heading and he would have wrote it with a particular subject not in universal one. i open this topic inorder for me to defend our culture and the people... and being silent means we agree...

I do not see anything wrong with his post. This is a venue for free speech and ideas. He has not violated any mylot guidelines to my knowledge and he has as much right as you and anybody here to post what he wants to post. If you do not like the topic, then DON'T read it. Who's idea is it to boycott his topic? Yours? If so, then you are being tyrannical- such an attitude is SO out of fashion in this day and age.

i did not overbear with this issue... i just want to know the consensus of everyone here who are affected by that discussion... and i did not open this as in i am concluding that we should boycot him, just read my heading first... it is a conditional inquiry... and you told me that i should not read it if i dont like... but, his heading was too catchy for me as i am a Filipino and proud to be one...
but, its over i have already heard some great advices from my fellow countrymen and other nationality who emphatized and shared ideas no need for another argument...
"you have the previledge to do what ever you waant but you should also be cautious and sensitive to others in your actions because you might out from the limit and may offend others who are just enjoying there stay here or who loves and proud for what they are" i think this is the essence...

Is is not good that we boycott mr. millionaire. Instead we challenge him that Filipinos were not all like what he think. As it says that, it is the opinion of a lot of foreigners. May be we should explain him that this attitude is also exist in other country not only Filipinos.

We are Filipinos. We are fun-loving people. We laugh at things. We laugh at some serious stuffs. We laugh. Because Laughter is the best medicine. That makes Filipinos really carefree and happy people.
As for Mr.Millionairre, let him be. Besides, we Filipinos can show that we are openminded people. We don't throw intelligent arguments to a harshly and poorly made question. We are Filipinos. We are noble, intelligent and openminded. We are mature people. :-p
Because we are intelligent, we know how to structure our way of words so as not to offend other people. Because we are intelligent, smart and most of all, HAPPY PEOPLE.
Kabayan! Magkaisa tayo!
Heheheh

I am not sure but I think it was just a case of "wrong choice of title". But I did not liked it before I read it, then after reading it I did not like the way his supposedly Australian friend said.

Hello knight_rlc26,
There is no need to boycot mr. millionairre here. We should have an open mind if we are being attacked. We should depend ourself. The truth will prevail.
We Filipinos have "onion skins" you know. A little bit of critizism we take it seriously. We cry foul, etc., etc. It is part of our culture and it's not easy to break. We just need to explain all this culture we have so that other will understand us better.

yes we should be open minded... but, taking a universal conclusion in a certain group and broadcasting it here is not good... he should think first before placing that heading... anyways... it just their opinion... and i am willing to defend because i am part of that group...

Hello Knight_rlc26!
As you can see i come from a African American Race and when i read the title of the discussion, it kinda shocked me in a way. Like so many others on here i think that he chose the wrong title for his discussion. I know like me it threw a lot of people off. Cause i know that if it were aimed at me, i would be hurt also. I hop he leran from this, and thank goodness there are so many nice people here on mylot that believe in over looking a lot and forgiving.

As far as I know...Mr Millionare is not the one who
say about the negative remarks..his friend! There
should be no boycot happening here...were just having fun here...let's stay it that way. Sometimes we take things too seriously. Come on...why don't we just prove to them...that we are not what they thought we are, instead of reacting. No offense knight.

I don't think we have to boycot Mr. Millionaire Anonymous. The only thing we could do is to ignore it because it just create anger in our hearts which is not good... For me, he just raised that topic so that he could get our attention! It may not be the right topic but we should forgive him and ignore the discussion or stop responding or else he will earn more than us lol!

Hello kabayan! I dont think there's a need to boycott millionaireanonymous, I think he just posted a topic that he thinks would create a sensation through mylot, who wouldnt want that? Although, I believe that his topic should be taken down. I agree that it is very offensive and its racist, I already wrote to the admin regarding this, I hope they would do something about it. Maybe you could also contact the admin, tell them how you feel about the topic. The CONTACT BUTTON is located at the bottom of the page.
From all the comments made by the people here, you can see how forgiving we Filipinos are, my gosh! I was really offended by the title, and I was thinking of cooking him in boiling oil, and kicking his a$$ back to where he originally came from. LOL
I dont care if that comment came from an ignorant, mentally retarded, moronic, foolish, dumb, etc, friend of his, but he should be responsible enough not to post it here for all the people who are ignorant, mentally retarded, moronic, foolish, dumb, etc to see and BELIEVE in.

I know that his title is offensive, but I think that it wouldn't be nice to boycott him. Actually what he said was the opinion of his friend and I think that it would be better if we prove to all that that opinion was wrong.

When I read it, I didn't care because I know it's not true. Besides, he is entitled to his own opinion. But Filipinos are very industrious and the huge number of OFWs proves that. Why should I direct my energies on him when he is so negative? That would be such a waste of time.

I don't think we should boycot mr millionaire anonymous. He has every right to state his opinion. Basically it wasn't his, its his friends. I am a Filipino and whatever people from other countries would say, I am still proud to be one because I am me and they cannot judge me by looking at other Filipinos. Other Filipinos may have done some crazy stuff but not all. We are all unique in a way or the other. People should respect us in that way. Generally, I can say that Filipinos are not lazy, we are just socially inclined people. Many envy us maybe because we have the time to socialize eventhough the country is in distress. LOL. Take care =)
