I love music, I can find solace from troubles in listening the music. When I immerse in it, I prefer melody to words, what about you? Why? Thank you for sharing!

i am a singer and i think melody is important if the song is a bouncy music. when it is fast or disco music then i think a good melody can hit the charts. if it is a love song i think it need to have a good words. love song lovers can relay more on good lyrics. so melody and words are important in different types of songs.

Although I prefer songs with lyrics I pay little attention to them concentrating mostly on the feel of the song. Some people think I'm weird because a song with sad lyrics will make me feel good...lol I guess with me its more about how the song feels than what its about. One I can think of right off hand is He Stopped Loving Her Today, sad song if you listen to the lyrics but the music has a nice feel to it. On the other hand the same song done by two different artists like I'd Rather Go Blind is one I like real well done by Rod Stewart but done by Etta James I don't care for it because it has a different feel and flow.

yes, for a successful song, great melody and perfect words are the same important. But for the emotion, I think, the beautiful melody can sink deep into my heart and can express more meaning than the words. Thank you for sharing!

I think you should like a song for whatever reason you like. Some songs are inspirational or sentimental because of the words. Some songs are fun because they have a great sound and are enjoyable to listen to. Others are great to dance to and yet others are just fun to sing along with. I like everything just depends on my mood. I think the most important is what is in important.

I agree with most of the responses here, both lyrics and melody is important to a song. For me, maybe the first impression that draws me to a song is the melody but it's the words that makes me a fan of it =DDD Cheers~

I do prefer melody too. If I like the beat and melody then that is the time I look in the lyrics. When I find the lyrics interesting then I will definitely love the song.

For me both the melody and the word is significant to a particular song. It is the one who gives a deep meaning to the song, I mean the melody and the words is connected with each other that one can't be perfect without the other.

I often listen to the melody the first time I hear a song. I'm a sucker for minor chords, lol. The melody and atmosphere of the song is usually more important to me. I don't have a problem with lyrics, but I often find some that I can relate to on a personal level.

Some songs are known not for their melody but for their songs. How the song was written, it's concept, and the story behind every lyrics is what makes a song someone's theme. It is what usually makes it someone's theme song. I have a lot of songs in my playlist which I appreciate its depth because of its lyrics. Sometimes, when I'm stressed, what I wanted is good melody. Song that soothes my mind. Most of them are pop, jazz and samba. Carefree and feels like the rhythm gets into my head and relieves and rejuvenates my tired brain cells. hehe..

They're both important, yes, but if i have to choose just one, it would be MELODY. Why? well, even if you just put in lalalala as long as the melody is very beautiful then I can live with that. Rather than having very good lyrics but the melody stinks...I wouldn't dare listen to it twice. Just my thoughts.

For me, i love music than lyrics when i was child, but as time passed by, lyrics became important to me than music. but for a good song both are equally important.

For me, is quite the opposite, when I'm a teenager, I love lyrics than melody, but now I love melody more, because I can understand what the composer want to express from the melody, not just from the words of lyrics. Thank you for sharing!

Hi! It's so nice to have a discussion with you. I prefer melody to words. My feeling is that when you are totally immersed in the music, you actually enjoy its beautiful melody. Sometimes, you will hum with the music. That feeling is magic. But as to a good song, in my opinion, both melody and words are necessary. I like Faye Wong's music. The lyrics is so beautiful!

both the melody and the words are important for a music to become a hit. but in my opinion the words are more important than the melody. it's the message you send that should matter to everybody.

I wouldn't say its whats most important to me, but just what i like most. i am definetly more for the melody than the words. Like i like this song called "lips of an angel" by hinder. the sound of the song is something i'm really into. in the words of the song is he basically talking about cheating on his girlfriend or wanting to. so the subject matter isn't the greatest but its a really good rock melody.

Both the melody and words are important in a song. But if you are, a producer who wanted makes the. melody is more important because it's the focus
