The price of fuel keep on increasing each day.
Do you plan to buy a hybrid car, which will help you to save a lot of petrol money?

I would love to. But they are still out of our price range. Hopefully that will change. They are better for the environment. It would be nice to have one.

They are not just out of my price range, in my humble opinion, they are far far outside of my poor price range. There have been a few contests offering a hybrid as a prize, but I do not think they are a reliably way of dreaming one into my driveway. :)

No, i plan on never getting a car and using my bike.
No fuel cost, no traffic jams, no harmful toxins for the environment ... downside inadequate bike-lanes ;)

You are such an enviromental-friendly person. Keep it up!
Maybe you can write an official complaint, so that the government can increase the number of bike-lanes.

My husband has a hybrid. He bought it a few years ago before the high gas prices. It considers it to be one of his smarter decisions. It saves him about 300 dollars per month.

Your husband is very wise to buy hybrid car early.
300 dollars per month = 3600 dollars per year. That's a lot of saving.

I must admit, if I were to save $300 a month on gas by buying a hybrid it might just start to make sense. However, buying a hybrid would take away ever bit of savings I have in the bank or force me to take out a car loan, where I pay a ton of interest to the bank. I don't think it would be a wise decision.

Yea with the high interest is a big burden to you. I can understand. Let's hope the car manufacturer will try to reduce the price of hybrid cars.

No, I do not. Reason: The price of a hybrid car is so much more than a regular car, that I cann't afford to. The higher price tag on a hybrid equals years worth of fuel. So, it really doesn't save any money until years down the road. I would definitely buy a hybrid car if the price dropped by approximately $5000.

If i could afford to I would definitely buy a hybrid car. I do agree that the cost for one is way expensive, but overall I believe it pays itself back.

it will definitely pay itself back in the long term, assuming you plan to keep the car for at least 5-10 years.

It is indeed difficult to move when you have to work with the highly expensive gas. I don't own a car at the moment. I use the bus and subway to go shopping at downtown and go to university. But if I was driving, I would wait a little bit before buying a hybrid car and keep my crappy one. Scientists are working hard at the moment to make a car that helps on the environment and that takes less gas. Maybe in about 5-10 years they will create something new, and the hybrid may be cheaper for our budget. At this moment, provinces in Alberta or Manitoba, in Canada, are using solar energy for their houses. They don't have any electric wires that come from the house to a pole. They place solar square on the roof. It produces enough energy and they won't get affected when there are huge storms that causes blackout. SO I guess they might do something similar for cars.

i hate to say it but those cars are just band aids to a much bigger problem. If everyone got a hybrid we would still run out of petrol eventually
