Hello Are you happy with the current prices of fuel? Me neither. Now is the time for ALL Americans to take action and get your Senators and Representatives to work for our good, not their pocketbooks. Commodities brokers are driving the costs of oil higher. They are driving the costs of your food higher, and everything else you purchase. I have been watching the news almost all year and every time a good report on oil stockpiles is released a commodities broker within a day or two will release a wide statement saying that supplies are not good. Of course the bad news gets more attention and prices go up. The commodities broker just made lots of money. They bet on the FUTURE prices, not current. Every time oil goes up they make more money now and lots more in the future. Congress is considering legislation that would put restrictions on commodities traders. This could save us as much as 30% on gas prices. Would you like to see $3 gas again? Everyone needs to write your representative asking them to vote in favor of curbing unrestricted petroleum speculation, especially if your Rep is a Republican. Republicans for the most part are not going to support this legislation UNLESS there is a swell of support. I am a Republican and normally would not favor expanding gov't controls, but dammit, something needs to be about this. The only way the "voice of the people" will be heard is to get in the ears and mail boxes of our Representatives. My brother-in-law worked for a Senator in DC for years. He knows what works and does not work when contacting a rep. Shorter is better (unlike this post, sorry when I get going on something....). Your rep will never see your letter. A staffer wil open it and read it then sort it in to piles of "for" or "against". They will collect the stats and your address. In a couple weeks you'll receive a letter saying they got your letter and where the rep stands on the matter. He has written a letter for us. Hand written is better, someone has to open it and read it. Emails get deleted often without being read. Here is the letter: Dear Senator (Or Congressman) I encourage you to support efforts to curb unrestricted speculation in petroleum and commodities trading, along with restrictions on American investors moving their portfolios offshore to avoid U.S. commodities trading regulations. In short, rein in the speculators whose actions have contributed in large measure to the high price of fuel in (insert your state here). Many Thanks sign here ------------------- The offshore part is due to institutional investors taking your 401k's into foreign stock markets to invest unrestricted when they can not in America. If you own funds that do this, drop them. Some will say it is the fault of the war. I do not disagree to a certain extent. It has caused prices to rise. But the last dollar or two has been due to the reasons above. Write the letter and send it. 50 cents may save you lots more in the future. Don
