Do you take your cart back to the store or to the cart corral after shopping?

All of us have to grocery shop, question is, do you take your cart back into the store or find a cart corral to push it into. Or, do you look around and then leave it in front of your car for the cart wrangler to get. Honesty is required, no harm will come to you for your previous actions.

When my husband and I do our groceries, we usually leave the cart in the cart corral.
No need to bring it back inside the grocery store because that's the purpose of the corral. A grocery helper will get all those carts that are lined up in the corral to bring it back inside so other people can use it.
What's not okay is to just leave the cart where you are not supposed to. Even if you're in a hurry or just plain lazy, you should respect their rules. Besides, that is the obligation of the shopper, to return the cart where they are supposed to be returned.

I normally take it to the cart corral if one is closer to me or take it to the store if that line of carts there is not too long... I have sometimes been lucky enough to see the cart wrangler on the way and to have him take the cart from me and I have sometimes picked up one other cart to take to the cart coral if someone else put it in a parking place. Only rarely do I leave a cart in a parking place if there are several other carts already there and if there are no cart corrals available. I tend to get a good feeling for putting the cart back where it belongs and do a little, "yes, I did it!" inwardly because I am proud of myself for doing this.

I usually put the cart into cart corral, it is handy. But if I bought a few stuff and I can take it to my car or it was raining, I will leave the cart in the store. I also notice some customers push the cart to their departments or houses.

I know, I lived in a condo in Florida and there were shopping carts all over the place. It was weird.

I take it back because I have to put money in a slot in the cart to take it and I get the money back when I return it. It's simple economics.

Actually it's more like $1.50. We use a 5 shekel coin in the carts. The exchange rate is 3.something to the dollar.

I almost always put the cart back into the corral very rarely will I take it up to the store. I do hate when others leave them right there as they are to lazy or whatever to either take it to the store or put it in the corral. If I go to pull in and cant cause of a cart I get rather grumpy. What is 2 minutes in putting something where it is suppose to go?

To be honest it depends. If I'm by myself I will take it back to the store or the cart return it just depends on which is closer now if I have my kids I don't feel right leaving them in the van by themselves and I don't want them walking through the parking lot and getting hit following me around .. The fact of the matter is if I have 5 kids in tow I'm not returning it, it will sit in front of my vehicle while I load everyone ... LOL!! but if I'm by myself then I go and put it back where it belongs that is why I said it depends.

I leave my cart in the parking lot as they do have people that work there that come and take them in. Or when I go shopping, most of the time, someone from customer service now takes out our cart and helps us to put the groceries in our car and then takes the cart back with him/her to the store. I think more and more of the stores are doing that now, it's called customer service. I like it when the kid takes out my cart, especially in the winter when it can be hard to push through the snow, if the parking lot has not been cleaned yet.
I see those carts all over our city. I guess people take them home and don;t bring them back and I think that is wrong. Then other kids find them and play with them and I have seen where they have been dumped down on our shores by the river in the middle of our city. Then the city has to send someone to pick them up but sometimes that doesn't happen for weeks because I guess they don't know they are there till someone complains to them about it.

Usually I put it in the cart corral or take it to the front of the store. I will sometimes leave it in the lot though if I am tired or in a hurry. I try not to leave anywhere where it is going to roll into another car or down a hill or something though.

Thank you. Those Range Rover owners seldom park at the bottom of the hill anyway.

99.9% of the time I take it back. I never leave it next to a car though. Up on the sidewalk in front of the store if I dont get it in the corral.

I do not drive myself but whenever I use a grocery cart I
always return it to a cart corral. I watched as a whole
train of emp;ty carts blown along by the wind propelled
'themselves in front of drivers who had to stomp on their
brakes to keep from hitting those metal carts. this is just
plain laziness on the part of shoppers. just put them in the
corrals and you will not have flying grocery carts out
to bang into cars.

It helps when they don't build a grocery store on a hill too.

At the little local grocery store in town I take the cart back to the front of the store where they keep them but at Walmart I put it in the cart corral. I will admit that during the last few days before Christmas madness I have been known to leave my cart in front of my truck in Walmart's lot only because there are other carts already there to keep mine company and the corral thing is usually overflowing anyway.

I worked as a cart wrangler at Wal-Mart and I loved it and hated it. I hated it when people would leave carts outside and the wind would blow them all the way across the parking lot. I love it when I could break the store record, 78 carts, what a train that was.

Well the trouble is that we intend to take the cart back to the cart corral, but usually before we get there, someone comes up and offers us a $1.00 before we put it in. We have those chains that lock the carts in the cart corral unless you put in a dollar and no one likes to do it, because sometimes it gets stuck. So we feel it is better to either wait until someone drives up and sees you put the last of the groceries in the trunk and then ask, "Do you want a cart?" or they will hand you a dollar (loonie) and you will give them the cart.
So we intend it to go into the cart corral, but it seldom does.

I always return my shopping cart either to the shopping cart corral or at least to the front of the store. I hate it when I can't get into a parking space because there is a cart there, or someone leaves one against my car because they are too lazy or in too big a hurry to put it where they should. The worst is when someone leaves a cart behind someone's car and I've seen this done. What is the point??

Hi gitfiddleplayer,
I will be honest. the majority of the time I take it back to the where all the carts are at, other times, when I'm just lazy i will leave it in front of my car. I will make sure that it doesn't roll or hit another car.

Usualy the corral, I never park close enough to the enterance to take it back inside. Sometimes if I don't have too many bags to carry, I will just take them out and leave the cart inside.
