Do you eat the apple peel? Do you always peel fruit before eating?

I love to eat apples. Most times, I wash the apple or pear thoroughly and then cut into pieces. I eat the fruit slice, peel and all. I've heard that the most nutritious part of an apple is the peel. So I never pass up the chance at better nutrition. I've heard that apples might prevent lung cancer. That's important to know, especially for someone living in a high smog area. Do you always peel your fruits, apples, pears, etc. before eating them? What do you do with the peel? Do you eat the peel? Do you think it's healthy?

I eat all, its not apple when you dont eat the peel, its the best part coz its more crunchy when you it eat with the peel. I love the sound of the peel and the whole fruit, specially when the color is full red, it makes it more delicious.

I do eat the peel of the apple. It is my favorite part! I like to slice the apple up and dip it in peanut butter. I did not know that it could prevent lung cancer though. That is interesting. I will have to look into that...

I used to be really picky about skin on anything, apples, grapes, hot dogs... everything. I looked like I was 6, lol. I got over it though and now the only thing I take the skin off is chicken. Ohh in fact I have a recipe for candied citrus peels that I've been dying to try out. If they're yummy, I'll put them on my shop.

I eat the peel of my apples and pears and peaches, nectarines, and plums. The only fruits that I do not eat the skin of are the ones that you are not supposed to like melon and citrus.

Oh I always eat an apple with the skin on, will wash then eat. It is a lovely feeling crunching into an apple and I really enjoy. In fact the only fruit I peel is an orange and then I save the peel to make pot pourri with. Ellie :D

I was just wondering. What is a "chikoo"? I have tried lots of different types of fruit from all over the world but I have never heard of that.

After giving a plaint water wash, the fruits (most of them) are consumed with the skin. It is not only tasty, it helps ease digestion with its firbrous content.

Well, it would depend on whether I am lazy to peel the fruit or not. I do not really care if the apple is peeled or not. I like it either ways. But when I am cooking with apples, the skin will have to come off. It is near impossible to soften the skin of the apple when cooking.

I love apples too. Maybe its also what we have been told before. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" But we live in a place where apples are not grown but imported from overseas. And often by the time it takes to get to us an apple would have taken the long journey by ship, plane, train bus.. I worry that additives are added to make it last and remain crispy.. And additives may or may not be good for your health. So usually We peel off an apple and enjoy the flesh but send the peel to the composting bin.

I eat the peel of apples but not in some pears like the Korean pear because it is sandy. I think apple is the only fruit that I eat the peel. It is really healthy as it has more fiber than the core.

Yes! That is true. Apple peel has lots of healthy fiber which makes one feel full. So it's good for anyone on a diet. Thanks for pointing that out.

I heard that apple peels are healthy. In fact, most fruit peels have some vitamins in it. But I really don't enjoy eating apple peels in particular because of the texture. It's hard against the fleshy fruit. So it ruins the taste of apples. the only time I ever eat apple peels is when there's no peeler around.

Nope I dont peel apples or fruits unless the covering of the fruit is not edible. the vitamins and minerals are more richer in those area compare to the inner part of the fruit. besides its covering is more tastier than the inner part.

If I buy organic apples I do, if not - I don't. Apples are one of the many fruits that absorb pesticides into their skin very easily.

I am not a fan of raw apples now, but when I was little I used to eat the peel as well as the fruit. I don't eel potatoes if I am just going to boil or fry them, but if I am ooking a dish with meat and gravy, I peel potatoes.

Love that crunch and the sweet juice pouring out as I eat my apple skin and all. apples are really very good for you with lots of vitamins and minerals and flavonoids so lets all eat up and enjoy our apples.

I eat the peel. I just have to cut apples and pears into slices before I eat them, though. The same goes for potatoes, did you know? A lot of the nutrients are in the peel. The same goes for oranges, but orange rinds aren't very tasty.

I always eat the peel, but not for any particular reason. I love apples. They are yummy. Usually when I eat them, I slice them with our apple corer and then just eat it. I don't care if it has the peel on or not.

yes i eat the apple peel as it has high iron content and good for the body and i also like to eat the peel of some other fruits like grapes, blueberries etc.some fruit peels have the highest nutrient and vitamin contend even more than the fruit.at the same time i always first wash the fruit and then eat, washing the causes all the dirt and pestisides present in the particular fruit to drain away.thank you for asking this question and have a nice day.
