The best dog I ever had...I miss him so much!

What was your favorite dog? Have you ever found another one like him or her? Once I had a mix breed German shepherd and Keeshond dog. He was an amazing, sweet and gentle animal and was good with children. He was the smartest dog that I've ever known. And not violent at all! He was full of energy and life and loved play and fun. He looked like a miniature German Shepherd, (very low to the ground with short legs) but acted protective just like a full sized German Shepherd. He was fearless and could fight a much bigger dog if he had to do so. Once I saw him run off a big Doberman that was twice his size. He ran away years ago, probably to find a mate. I miss that little guy!

All three of my dogs - This is a picture of all three of my dogs. They love sleeping on the couch!
It would be hard to choose just one dog, as my favorite. We currently have three, and I love them all three very much. Trixie is my baby. We got her shortly after we got married, the week we found out we were pregnant. We already had Blackie, but I wanted a small snuggly dog, since Blackie isn't a snuggler. We found Trixie, and I knew I wanted her right away! She's a 20ish lb terrier mix. She's very affectionate and sweet. She's also smart. She knows how to answer the cordless phones, and then hang them back up. We do have a couple of problems with her, though. She won't tell us when she has to go potty, and will just potty in the house if we don't notice her going to the door. We've been working on this for over 3 years now!! Every time we almost get her potty trained, she has some kind of set back. She will also climb the fence if she isn't supervised, to chase the ground squirrels, or jack rabbits. Blackie is my husband's dog. He's had her since she was just a puppy. She is a black lab mix. She is a very good dog, and listens better than any of the other pets. She went from being a full time outside dog to a full time inside dog without any problems at all. She's only had maybe 5 accidents in the 3 years that she's been an indoor dog! The bad thing with her is that she doesn't like it when Elliott pets her. She also sometimes picks fights with the other two dogs, though she has never even tried to bite Elliott. Snoopie is Elliott's dog. We just got her in February. She will be 2 in the fall. She's a lab/spaniel mix, and she still acts like a puppy. She has a lot of energy, and is always getting into something! She's very sweet with Elliott, though. She lets him climb on her, and she loves to snuggle with him. She listens pretty well for a young dog, and she's only had one accident since we got her. The bad things about her are that she gets into stuff all the time (like the trash, and she chews on everything, not just her own toys), and she tries to run away when my husband isn't home. The picture I've included is of my three girls. In order: Blackie, Trixie, and Snoopie.

I can't say I had a favorite one for we loved them all, the ones that have passed over, stolen and still with us, we loved them all equally however, we do miss the one's we've lost very much and will always remember them in our hearts. The one's that have passed over the Rainbow Bridge, we know are waiting for us on the other side.

My favorite dog was the first dog I had as a child. he's name was Skipper. He was part German Sheppard and something else. I want to say part Collie. He was also very protective over me. He was always at the bus stop when I got off. he really looked out for me.

i used to have an oversized wookie of an afghan hound.wasn't the brightest bulb in the box,but he was the sweetest, most gentle dog...well,except to the gas man.he hated him with a passion for some reason.i never quite figured out why that guy-he liked everybody else.

That is so weird! Dogs are super picky sometimes. Maybe the man had cats!

i don't think that was it..we had cats, and he loved them (even though the cats weren't sure of him). my dad asked the guy point blank if he ever kicked our dog or something, the guy denied it.only thing else i can think of is maybe the gas smell itself.

How sad that he didn't stick around... The ONLY dog I have EVER had we had when I was 5 years old. She was also a German Shepherd, named Lady. She was only about 2 years old, but we could not keep her. Eventually, we donated her to the Seeing Eye (guide dogs for the blind) and she was trained and placed with a gentleman in NYC. So, we know she had a good, full, and rewarding life.

Thank you for saying so! We had our dog for many, many years and I think in his older age he just wanted to be around others of his kind. It is so wonderful that your little girl dog got a good home. And, that she could help others in need! Thank you for sharing your day with me.

Hi There, Dogs can truly become your best friends. I had a dog throughout my entire childhood. I think I had about 10 dogs in all. They were all special to me bu the one that stands out the most for me is the last one. I think it was because I lost my house and I had nowhere to keep him. I ended up having to give him away and till this day I still wonder if he went on to have a good life. cheers,

My favorite dog is a Rottweiler and she is the best dog ever. I know when she is gone i'll never find another like her. She is 103lbs and a big baby but most ppl are afraid of her size.
