hi sutan! i am fine with dentists. as long as i have some extra funds to spare, i make it a point to visit the dentist, at the very least once a year for cleaning they help me make my teeth clean and my dental health in check. if i don't visit them regularly, i know that i will have more dental problems in the future and it will become more painful and more expensive to correct. so my visits now are sort of an investment for the future. so i hope you make it a habit to go to your dentist regularly. it will be good for your body and for your pocket, too. :) good day and God bless you!

hi spoiled311, you're great! so, fear is not one of your factors . well, it's nice to see the dentist regularly to avoid tooth problems. i'm just afraid if i visit the dentist, she will find something wrong at my teeth....and see star turn on her drill, and....

I don't think anyone enjoys going to the dentist, and I always put it off for as long as possible ... but when you have a toothache, it's fantastic to put yourself in the hands of the only person who can make things right again! I always walk out of the surgery feeling on top of the world!

Yeah, absolutely the last ppl to deal with. Just 2 months bk, i went in for a RCV, and belive me, it was horrible. But who can blame them, its us who neglected our teeth in the first place, they just are doing the good part of repairing our teeth in a horrible way, which again is the only way!

Hi Sutan, Its good that i came across this discussion. I am a dentist from the Philippines and i'd like to share some dental pointers to myloters. If you hate dentists so much because of drilling your teeth, then you should consider brushing and flossing regularly. And when you floss, you have to do it correctly or you will just hurt your gums but not really get rid of the food debris. If you see or feel that you have sticky saliva, that is making you prone to dental carries, so you would need to use mouth wash to neutralize the oral environment. Of course that will not excuse you not to visit a dentist at least every 6 months. Because brushing is never enough to prevent calcular deposits or tartar. Only a dentist can keep you teeth in its cleanest state. If tartar is not taken care of, well, you might have a carries free set of teeth but you will not get away from gingivitis or periodontal problems. This will eventually lead to exposed root portion of the teeth and make them sensitive and could even lead to tooth loss. Second, If you hate extraction, you must ALWAYS have your teeth filled once you have a small carries. Or it will always lead to root canal treatment or pulling it off. And just to let you know, when you go to a dentist to have your teeth filled, they will use a drill and you should feel or maybe even see that the drill they are using is actually spraying water at the same time. The water serves as the coolant to the tooth being drilled and helps tooth sensitivity diminish while drilling. Sensitivity in the course of drilling is actually due to being friction carried onto the deeper tooth structure. The deeper your carries is, the more sensitive or even painful it is to the tooth.

Hi sutanhartanto, If I dont have a problem with my teeth I dont even want to go to their office, but if I feel pain, the dentist is the first person that come to my mind. I think we just go to the dentist if we needed them. But if we really care about our teeth ir we want a beautiful smile, we should always visit the dentist. thanks and have a nice day to you. keep smiling

I don't like going to the dentist I never have. I find that the fact that they are putting their hands in my mouth (and they never seem to fit) freaks me out and they always want me to open my mouth farther than it will open. They scare me. The last time I went to the dentist I was there for 4 hours having a tooth pulled - the root broke off and they tried to get it out and it hurt so bad the freezing wouldn't take I went home in tears and in pain for a week. That was 2 years ago and I've been waiting since then for my appointment with the oral surgeon this coming august since then. I'm SO glad they are putting me under for that because I'm scared to go if they don't.

scary.....i'm so sorry about that. i also got my tooth pulled last years. there is something wrong with the tooth so it's difficult to pull it. even she ask their senior for help! and when finally they make it, it's bloody much more than the normal...

I have many dentist friends. I don't adore them but I love going to the dentist. The only thing I don't like about them is when they ask me to open my tooth and say all the bad things they can see inside. LOL. The drilling part is painful but as long as they make my smile beautiful, I have no problem with that. Take care =)

I feel both ways towards them. Ambivalent, so to speak sometimes. It may depend on what I'm going to the dentist for. If I'm going for to have a tooth filling I usually admire how thorough they can be with the whole process. But if I'm going for a tooth extraction, I would wish I had taken care of my teeth earlier in my life.

when i was a young kid, going to the dentist was really scary for me. i used to think that dentists are always (i mean ALWAYS) after my teeth with all the tools they use like drillers, injections and all that stuff! i remember having a nightmare full of dentists that wanted to extract all of my teeth! :o but now, i realize the importance of visiting the dentist. and i'm proud to say that my teeth are properly taken cared of. after all, who does not want a perfect smile? i hate the dentist due to the fact of waiting and the way the office smells the way the waiting room is set up basically just the atmosphere always makes me wat to be anywhere else the dentist would be fine if the place was not so cold and such
