long or short engagement?

Hmm. I've personally never heard this. I was with my husband for 1 1/2 years before we got married - we got engaged at 4 months because we just knew we were right for each other. I think regardless of the engagement period, what really will make for a successful marriage is that each person is fully committed to learning and growing with their potential spouse! Marriage takes work, and so many people don't want to work at their marriage - they just want to give up and start again. As long as people respect what marriage really is and are committed to making it work, it has a much better possibility to last!

I have never heard that. I have heard that a long engagement means that most likely a couple will stay together. I also believe that that is just a majority / minority thing, it doesn't mean that a short engagement works or a long engagement fails. Have a Great day.

I don't think the duration of the time between engagement and marriage decides the success of marriage. Inspite the sucess depends on the understanding, love, sincerity etc etc between the couple. There should be a sense of sharedness among them. Shared values and activities. In my opinion without such strong positive factors in the relationship, success married life is not possible.

Hi Cheri for me my opinion It's not how long or how short you been engaged. It's how you keep the relationship healthy. It's a two way process both of you should be committed to make your relationship work. I have heard different stories from long term to short term yet end up to be a great couple still.
