my house has wodden panelled windows

i live in a 60 year old house and all the windows are wodden paneelled, it feels pitch dark inside once you close the windows. i need not have heavy curtains as i can manage with light curtains durign the day which also prevents a lot of dust fro maccumulating, but while i have lived in the city with glass panelled windows it becoems permanent nuisance if you dotn have heavy curtains

In olden days people used to make windows and door in in woods like teak,jack fruit tree, mango trees etc. Now opting for this woods are costly affair. Hence, people making their windows and doors in a mixture of wooden and aluminium or steel panel.
