Do you know their difference? Do i need to have them both? why? Or one is enough? If so, which one and why. Me? I am using the Zone Alarm Security Suite version 7. It is a firewall with an anti-virus and an anti-spyware. I also have an AVG Anti Virus version 8 installed here. Well, That's how i am protected. Because of these, I do not always reformat my computer. It is not slow also. It's a virus free computer ^_^

Firewall moniters and controlls the activities of applications. It blocks the attacks which are harmful to the computer. Antivirus detects and eliminates the viruses.
You need them both and one more to protect your pc. That is antispyware. But this does not mean that you have to install 3 softwares. Most of the antivirus programs have all the three of them. It is not recommended to use more than one antivirus, firewall or anti spyware program on a single pc. This may create problems.
I have used many antivirus programs. I recommend to use Kaspersky Internet Security 7.0. It is a great all in one program. After installing it you can forget about the security and viruses. It will do the job for you

A firewall helps keep people from accessing your personal files and
helps keep hackers from entering your computer...
Anti virus helps keep your computer running smooth and takes out any
viruses, spyware, maleware and other harmful things that can make your
computer crash I use Avast for my protection at the moment I was using
AVG Free Edition but for some reason it wasn't working right for me..

A firewall is passive-it blocks attacks. Antivirus software is active, recognising threats and alerting You or neutralising them.Antivirus software needs updating so as to be able to be ready when a danger to your machine is detected.

Firewall guards the entry and exit point of your system to internet connection. A properly configured firewall ensure that nothing will be allowed to come in and leave with out your knowledge, such as unauthorized remote access.
Antivirus ensure that your files will not be altered or modified. If a file is already infected, it will try to remove it, if it fails then the file will be moved to quarantine to prevent it from causing further infection.

You can use the firewall to protect your computer network from abusive websites and from hackers. Firewall filters the information coming through the internet to your computer system. If an incoming pack of information is flagged by the filter it is not allowed through.
Antivirus is a computer programme or software that searches the hard disc for virus and remove if found any.
