I've been having a really hard time getting to sleep lately. I just toss and turn all night long and then look over at the clock and wouldn't you know it, it's time to get up and go to work.
I was just wondering what you guys would suggest for helping me get to sleep.
I don't want any sort of medication for sleep aid... so... any other suggestions would be fabulous.
What do YOU do when you can't fall asleep?

I've had the same problem latley but for me I know that I have a lot on my mind, so when it is tome to unwind and laying in bed, that's when my mind starts to concentrate on the things that I tried not to think about all day. The good thing is that after a few days of not sleeping well, or at all, my body finally shuts down and I sleep like a baby because I am so overtired. Try reading while laying in bed or even listening to music, I have noticed that they both tend to help me when this problem ocurrs.

I recently ran into this also. I began meditating a few nights ago. I get so relaxed that I have fallen into one of the best deep sleeps I have ever had. I wake up refreshed and it is great.

What kind of meditating? Do you just sit and close your eyes and... try to not think? or... think about certain things...or...concentrate on...I don't know...the sound of waves?

Drinking a cup of chamoille tea is helpful. I also like to
read a book before bed. I find that if I can make my eyes tired it helps me to go to sleep. also, getting into a sleep ritual and going to bed at the same time every day should help you.

I don't work so I usually jump online and try to earn some money...lol. I battle insomnia a lot. The past few months have been real bad. Normally I will sit and write for a bit and that relaxes me, but lately I haven't even felt like doing that. So I hop online and work my sites.
Back when I was working I found I had a hard time getting to sleep when I worked back to back doubles. I knew I was sleeping on a deadline so it was hard for me to shutdown, especially after just getting home.
I read this article on a relaxation technique that was supposed to help so I tried it and had so-so results. It said to lay down and imagine yourself relaxing each part of your body and letting it go to sleep. So I would start at my toes and work my way up and sometimes it actually worked. Good luck Pix!

well i would agree to what risris said. read a book or listen to music. but i would have to say not to read the Da Vinci code as a bed time story....its really easy to get lost. i would also suggest watching an old movie like the sandlot, BIG, any of the Indiana Jones, or perhaps a starwars film. something like that. now if yyou are really desperate for some sleep i just take nyquil or some other night medicine that induces drowsiness. hope that helps.
