I have been suffering recently from low back pains which sometimes is so intense that I hardly could walk or go to office. Off and on in the past i had experienced such pains but i disregarded them thinking it was just due to tiredness, fatigue or over exertion but lately my low back pains have been bothering me much. Can anyone share what is the best remedy for such pains aside from pain killers and other medicine which could have adverse effects? And maybe provide information as to what cause s such pains?

i have also the same problem but not really as intense as what you have describe on your part.
i have been experiencing this for years and i keep on lying down in bed to ease the pain and to rest my body.
now there's not much pain anymore because i decided to have a 30 minute to 1 hour walk every other day early in the morning and do some jog and this really help me a lot. i am feeling better now.

Hi my friend. I am glad you are no longer feeling so much pain but i still would suggest that you see a doctor because lower back pains can be caused by many reasons such as slipped disc or you are overweight or some other causes and a doctor could give you the best advice. Also bad posture or sitting down for long hours withou exercise can cause lower back pain. If you still feel some pain please have your doctor give you some advice.

i already went to the doctor one time and had a check up but the doctor, he said that there's no problem with my lower back and the doctor can't prescribe anything or do anything about it because they found no problem with it.
i think there are two causes why i am experiencing lower back pains and it is because of bad posture and sitting position and the second one is because of doing acrobatic exhibition when i was in high school and i think i had an injury with it.

i also suffer from a similar condition.
have consulted a couple of doctors/physiotherapists/professional trainers and a couple more.
here is the scoop of they had to say:
1. you are slightly obese and are not exercising/flexing your back muscles
2. since i mostly work in front of a computer and sit for long hours, is one of the reasons for the chronic back pain
3. you need to exercise regularly (though i go to the gym everyday and exercise my back regularly; which i must admit is the only reason i'm able to work and has genuinely helped with my back pain)
4. you don't have a good posture while standing/sitting (ok this helped me for a while but the doc asked me to lean forward whenever i'm sitting in front of the computer and to stand upright while walking.
hope that this post helps others.

with this kind of situation it is relly best to consult a doctor...you may receive lots and lots of recomendations everywhere but what if it is not the thing that you really need??that is indeed risky right???
if the back pain is like a normal back pain ointment will do..but then again i really do recommend on going to your doctor for proper guidance..
stay healthy!!!

You must identify the root cause of your lower pain though in most cases, it is due to kidney problems or reproductive/urinary tract infections. If its a urinary tract infection or kidney related, I would only drink a lot of water and drink coconut juice or iced tea since teas are diuretic.
Pelvic exercise also helps. You simply move your hips to the right to the left while standing or you can lie down in supine position but fold back your legs in 45 degrees resting your feet to the floor and then move your hips up, remain in that position for three to five counts and then relax or go back to the starting position. you can start by doing 5 sets and then increase it to 10. The elevation of the hips depends on how much your hips can take since at first, it is really painful.

I don't think its a kidney infection but now that you mention it, I had UTI some months back and if it can cause lower back pain, its possible it has recurred. Everyone advises me to see a doctor and I know they are right since i cannot just keep on guessing what is the cause of this pain. Yes, I also haven't been exercising for a long time now and i should do something about it. Thanks for sharing.

if you're working all day and just sitting on a chair, probably that's the cause or maybe you did something new like played something that involved muscle movements. maybe you should buy something for muscle pain or better yet see a doctor to give you the right prescription. especially if you think it's stress.

Yes indeed I sit in a chair the whole day at work and I guess this has contributed to making the pains worse. No, its not pulled muscle since i haven't really been doing any exercises or in rigorous activities but i will see a doctor. Thanks for sharing

I get lower back pain quite frequently thanks to a herniated disk, bone spurs and osteoarthritis. Several things can help. If you sleep on your back, place a pillow under your knees, it relieves stress on your lower back. If you are a side sleeper, put one between your knees. Ice packs and heating pads are both great. My physical therapist often suggests starting off with heat for 20 minutes, then switch to ice pack. It apparently "short circuts" the pain receptors. If it continues, you should see a doctor because it could even be related to a kidney issue. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks TessWhite. I have a friend who has bone spurs and she tells me it can really hurt and she has to watch her weight too. Yes, I do the pillow thing and it helps but i cannot lie down in bed all day. I've heard about the hot and cold treatments too but haven't tried it out yet. I will definitely try it now. Thanks for sharing.

I mostly have back and hip problems when I lie down too long. I've been doing some stretching exercises or Yoga before I go to bed and it seems to help. Doing some exercise can help, but you have to make sure you don't aggravate your muscles even more. But, I think gentle stretches would help, but be careful if you haven't done it before. You might want to talk to your doctor or a chiropractor about it, too.

Well, low back pain is very debilatating, to say the least. I would say you should go to a chiropractor or to the doctor. I have had back problems ever since I can remember. I have been disabled for over 22 years because of back problems. I have had 4 back surgurys.Going to a doctor before the problem has gotten too bad is the main thing. A chiripractor can give you much relief if your problem is not reall bad.I have been seeing one for 6 months for my neck, I was unable to turn it for 2 years, because I had 3 bulging disks, I had injections at the pain clinic, they did not help. After 2 adjustments at the chiropractor, no more pain in my neck.

Lower back pain can be caused by a number of causes. Kidney infection is one and you don't want to mess around about finding out if that's what it is. If you're familiar with the pain of kidney infection and are sure that's not what it it, perhaps you've been sitting in an awkward position for a long time and your hips are out of alignment.
I used to have to have my daughter (a massage therapist) give me a treatment every week or so. Then she moved and I was reluctant to find another therapist, so I started using Pete Egosque's book "Pain Free" and doing the E cises found in it. It really helped put my hips and back and shoulders back in line without having the expense of a massage therapist. Your local library probably has the book. You can check it out and see if it's a help to you. If it is then you can buy it, so you'll always have it on hand. It's really an eye opener.

Yes I am familiar with kidney pain and i am glad it is not kidney infection. I don't know but I sit long before the computer and it might be one of the causes. I will look for the "Pain Free" book and i hope I can get it at our local bookstores. Thanks so much for sharing.

Low back pain is so hard to deal with and can make it very difficult to walk around. I deal with chronic pain every single day of my life so I understand how you feel. I hope you are feeling better.
