I also try my best to comment on their responses because it is satisfying that one's response is also being answered back. On the other hand, if there are no comments, its ok with me.

I try to. But there are times when I can't possibly do that due to time constraints. Even if I do not get to comment or reply to their responses, I make sure that I rate the response. Well, yeah, sometimes I do not reply or comment to the responses of other people especially if they are a bit offensive to avoid conflict.

It depends on what the person has commented with. I try to at least thank them for taking the time to respond, but I always feel a little bad that I do not have more to say. Of course, it would help if some people did not write a short, one-lined response that basically says "yes" or "no," especially when the topic gives plenty of 'room' for the person to elaborate on their response.

yeh i always do to let it known that i do read all the responses and also to show my gratitude for the respondents as well...
it also helps me to know a little bit more about the member becoz sometimes i follow-up the thread with questions pertaining to the respondent so we can interact...

I too do try and reply back to the responses provided they are not just a short reponse of just some 4 or 5 words and also as you said not offensive.
It is important to rate the discussions as it also gives the ranking to the person posting the discussion and encourages them to post more.

i do. cause i dont want them to feel offended that after their long effort of responsing from your discussion, whatever their reason is, i reply as much characters as i can.
it would pull off another conversation again after i do.
