My MOM!!! And she was awesome about it! She started when I was 14 yrs old. She use to take me down these back country roads where there was hardly any traffic at all. One day she just pulled over and said "Do you want to drive?". She is the coolest mom ever! I never had to ask her, she initiated it herself. I enjoyed those weekend afternoons with her.

Hi, I'm a mom who really wants to drive. My husband bought me a driving shoes for our practice the next day. I was so happythen because I was really interested to learn driving and wish I really could drive myself alone to the office so I don't get late anymore. Instead of learning, I was close to hating him forever because even if I stepped on the accelerator, he would always tell me to watch out for the clutch and the brake. I know already that if you shift gears, you really have to step on the clutch and then the rest. I did not ask him anymore to teach me, instead IU called our neighbor, a boy in his 20s and told him to teach me and my daughter drive the car. He did and for less than 5 hours, we were already running the car. That's how I learn to drive a car.

I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and living there you really don't need to know how to drive because there's so many other forms of transportation available to you.
However, when I was 20 I moved to Lexington, Kentucky and here YOU NEED to be able to drive. I got my permit but I really didn't learn to drive until about 2 years ago when I was 27 years old. I was newly married and I moved to East Alton, Illinois, which was where my husband was from. I needed to be able to get around and so he taught me how to drive and so, I took the driver's test and passed.
I have been driving ever since. It's the best thing I have ever done and I love being able to pick up and go shopping and things like that whenever I need to and not have to depend on others or public transportation.

I got taught at a driving school called "Young Drivers of Canada". It was really good, you learn a lot. I would also have to give atleast SOME credit to my mom for taking me out a few times to practice and what not.

I learned the basics of auto mechanics and maintenance in high school. Then, a friend of my parents and my boyfriend let me drive on their cars. I could not learn a stick shift to save my life. Finally, I went to driving school. The first State test I failed because I got nervous and forgot how to do a U-turn. So I enrolled in Keystone/AAA, had a good instructor, and passed the State driving test with no problems and more self-confidence. All totaled, though, it took me 6 years!
I bought an Olds, which was a lemon from day one. So I junked it and bought a Buick. But I never enjoyed driving - other drivers intimidated me, plus I had a few minor accidents. So, when I met my husband, who was poor at the time, I offered to give him my car (because his was ready for the junk heap). In order to get it, he had to marry me!
