I was so excited that I found what I wanted. It wasn't a bad price and I could get 2 from the same seller. I want to give my best friend one.
So I was watching the computer for a couple hours to make sure I got them and I won both! YAY!
Then I realized I didn't have enough money in my Paypal and for some reason my bank account wasn't attached, just my old one from a couple years ago that wasn't valid. I today I finally got the confirmation deposits and plugged them in. I went to pay excited that I even had an Ebay coupon when you pay through Paypal.
DUH! They only accept money orders and cashiers checks! CRAP!
What a dummy I was to not check that. It didn't even occur to me that people don't use paypal.

Wow! I wonder why they don't take paypal.
I never buy from anyone that doesn't use Paypal,
cause paypal can get your money back if the person
doesn't ship the item.
But I have forgotten to check, too.
So I am not judging.
Last time I bought off Ebay, they wouldn't let
me use my credit card for Ebay, just my Paypal
balance.
Fortunately, I had enough MyLot money in there
to pay the whole thing with shipping charges.

I wouldn't accept credit cards but back when I was selling a lot a couple people tried to pay with credit cards and since I didn't have that I didn't accept credit cards through Paypal I had to add it to my account. Bummer.
I guess I could always take it off.
I have always paid through paypal, besides when I first started EBaying. I was using checks but everything took way too long.

Yes, that is how I sell on Ebay, when I do (it has been at least a year). I can't accept credit cards, because I can't give paypal money for the "upgraded" account to accept credit cards, on top of ebay's fees. But, I always had a note in bold print at the bottom of the auction page that indicated that, along with a link to use paypal. I did not indicate paypal as an option at checkout, as they do not offer a no-credit card option. I hope your seller did this as well, and did not mislead you into thinking you could use a credit card.

I know. I am so bummed. I already went through so much to pay them and am back home with the kids now. If it didn't take me 10 minutes to go into tow I would run out but don't want to waste another gallon of gas.

I used to sell on Ebay religiously. It got to be too much to handle with my fulltime job and my family so I dropped selling on ebay. I recently went to review the new policies thinking that I might sell a few things that are in the way around the house. GEEEEEEEZZZZEEE, who can muddle through all those rules! It also seems to be quite risky for a seller now. Seems a seller can't leave a negative feedback for a nonpaying auction winner, so how is one to know if a bidder is a scam artist? I just didn't like all the new things that I saw so I won't be listing on ebay. Seems too that their fees have gone up a lot and when you add the Paypal fees on top of the ebay fees, it doesn't seem that one could make much money unless they were high volume sellers.

OMG you are using an ebay site which allows sellers to NOT accept paypal? OMG this in it's self is a miracle.
Ebay.co.uk have enforced a rule why by ALL sellers must offer paypal as a means of payment if you do not you can not list on there and if you say you accept it but you don't you can and will get reported for it and with their new feedback changes small sellers will find themselves with suspended accouts very quickly.
I can totally see why any seller would not want to use paypal it has so many loopholes for fraudsters and disshonest people, for istance buy something on ebay pay with paypal and if the seller does not send the parcel via a trackable means then go to paypal and open an item not recieved dispute, then the seller has to prove that you got the item which they can't and then you have money plus item, this is but one of the many ways paypal can and is exploited, in my time as a power seller on ebay uk i fell foul to what i would think are all the tricks to which point i lost around £500 / $1000 in the end i stopped accepting paypal though it never made a difference in my sales as what i was selling had a catchment anyway so nothing lost on my side now however i sell bits and bobs from time to time that are from around the house that i no longer want, and of course i am now having to accept paypal.
I have my first lot of listings up at the moment to which i have not had any up in a long time and i am just waiting to see how this goes though i am not holding my breath that i will not get one problem out of the 20 transactions.
I think there is a wide spread dillusion about paypal and it's the people who have not been stung by it before who have it, on the outside it looks and sounds great and for buyers it is but for the sellers it's as risky as accepting money on a carboot when your stall is inundated with people because of course that it prime time for a forger to slip you a fake £20 for a £1 item and wey hey they get the item and £19 pure profit from doing something ilegal.
The one thing i would say to anyone who uses paypal is
It may not have happened yet BUT we all get stung eventually and see how much paypal help you when it happens.

I have found quite a few sellers recently that don't accept Paypal. Most of them are fairly large sellers and a couple were consignment stores. I guess the amount of money they lose in Paypal fees is just too much.
Most of my online ventures pay me through Paypal, so I usually have more than enough money in my account to cover my eBay purchases.
Are you getting cash back from Ebay when you win an auction?? My cash back site pays me back through my Paypal account!

I used to make that mistake too but now I always check to see if they take PayPal. I can't stand having to get a money order or cashiers check. When I sell items I only take PayPal - it's so much easier. It happens to all of us - sorry it happened to you. :)
