Many people are hungry because of the food price crisis, but is it true that we are in the stage of food shortages?

Hello, patze! Actually there are serious shortage of rice, wheat and maize.so also other agricultural products.the erratic climate condition was unfavorable last year for crop production for which the short supply has resulted world wide.we can't blame the climate, for other factors are also responsible for short supply.the trader are hoarding food stuff and creating artificial scarcity of commodities in the market.this is another reason for the price rise.the rise in the price of oil has resulted in a hike in the transportation cost and the burden is easily shifted to the consumers.so the rise in the prices of food commodities allover the world will not ease in the short term in view of supply-demand situation.people usually spend 50-60%of their income on foods and therefore, any rise in the food price affects them. so we have to wait till the harvest of new crops.thanx.

I think so because of global warming farmlands can't grow crops anymore so they are being converted into golf courses or other commercial buildings like shopping malls.

actually i know in the USA the government actually pays some farmers to NOT grow food... strictly so that there isnt more suply than demand IN our country that is.... too bad they dont let the farmers grow the food and help them to sell some of it to countries that need it
