I own a mini dachshund. She's so cute and tiny, but she seems to be a picky eater. I am having troubles what to feed her. One day she likes to eat chicken, the next day she doesn't want to anymore. I'm having a headache what to do with dog food left overs. Any opinions on how to care for a picky pet? ^.^

Dogs are great creatures of habit. One of the signs of this is that they like the same food at the same time every day.
We humans think that it would be boring but not to a dog.
So start them as a puppy and keep to it.
We have fed all our dogs dried food based on chicken and fish and they thrive on it. The other good thing about dried food is that you can slip some into your pocket and give them as treats when training them or out on a walk if they do something good.
My lab Ruby just loves dogs that leave their food for later. If Ruby visits, she wolfs it down in a flash! haha

Picky eaters are made by us humans who keep on trying to offer alternatives as soon as the dog won't eat a meal. Just pick one dry food (good quality food from petstores, not junk food brands like Pedigree or Iams from supermarkets) and stick to it. Put her food down twice a day (3-4 times if she's still just a young puppy) and walk away. If she hasn't eaten in 10 minutes, pick up the food without saying anything to her or even looking at her and let her be without any food (this includes treats, leftovers, basically anything that can be eaten) until her next mealtime. It might sound a bit cruel, but when she gets hungry enough she will eat. Dogs don't starve themselves.
